Minami Sayaka is the newest release in Saicho’s Rare Tea Collection, produced in limited quantities. It is a sparkling tea from one family garden in Kyushu, made to be poured and shared. Enter for your chance to win a bottle worth £50.

It begins in Gokase, high in the mountains of northern Miyazaki, a region steeped in Japanese mythology. The Miyazaki family has tended tea here since 1930, across more than 140 small plots above 600 metres, where morning mist, winter snow and volcanic soils slow growth and concentrate flavour. Minami Sayaka is usually made as a green tea, but tea master Akira Miyazaki believed its leaf held a floral character that green tea could not reveal. He spent four years perfecting a light oxidation to bring it out, creating a rare Japanese oolong.
In the glass, gardenia and magnolia give way to white peach and nashi pear, then marzipan and a long finish of almond blossom. Serve it chilled with oysters, scallops or langoustines at a long winter lunch, or open it as the first pour of Christmas Day.

Each bottle comes in the collection’s signature box, illustrated by Saicho’s Artist in Residence Yuliya Kalinichenko with the Kumataka, the protected mountain hawk-eagle that soars above the tea fields.
Saicho is served alongside tasting menus in more than 150 Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels, and Sixty Stone Mountain, the previous Rare Tea Collection release, won Gold at The Drinks Business Asia Wine Masters 2025.
Minami Sayaka is available from Harrods and saichodrinks.com at ÂŁ50. Country & Town House readers have the chance to win a bottle in its signature gift box for the festive season.
Competition closes on 1 December.Â
