From Belsize Park and St John's Wood to Primrose Hill itself, here's all the celebs who call the London area home
Whilst Hampstead has been dubbed London’s official celebrity hotspot, its ever so slightly southern neighbours are proving to be just as attractive to the city’s A-listers. Forget the Cotswolds celeb set, in the 90s the Primrose Hill set was the clique to be seen with. Including the likes of Kate Moss, Jude Law and his then wife Sadie Frost, the gang were renowned for hosting wild, glamorous and exclusive parties.
But with the old guard having moved on, swapping out their Primrose Hill homes for more rural living, which celebrities call the region home today? Here’s your ultimate guide to the celebrities rumoured to live around Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and St John’s Wood.

Daniel Craig & Rachel Weisz
The James Bond star and his wife, actress Rachel Weisz, live in a four-storey Grade II listed townhouse in Primrose Hill. Purchased in 2008 for approximately £3.3m, the five-bedroom Victorian terrace dates all the way back to 1840. In 2023 it was reported that the couple had submitted an application to renovate the historic abode, drawing up plans to replace a ‘poorly constructed’ 20th century conservatory, relocate the kitchen and add in an additional guest bathroom.
Lily James
Around the end of 2020 the Mamma Mia 2 star purchased a Grade II listed home in North London worth about £3m. Around 250 years old, with a Regency era feel, the property is believed to sit close to Primrose Hill where the actress is frequently spotted.
Matt Smith
And unfortunately for Lily James, her ex beau is not many miles away. In 2010, following his casting as the BBC’s 11th Doctor Who, Matt Smith snapped up his first London home for £775,000, moving into a two-storey 19th century converted church in Highgate and donning it up with a purple velvet sofa and plenty of plants. Since then, it seems Matt Smith has remained a North London loyalist, with rumours suggesting that the star currently lives somewhere between Primrose Hill and Hampstead Heath.
Calvin Harris & Vick Hope
While Calvin Harris and Vick Hope prefer to spend most of their time in their Cotswold bolthole, like any good celebrity power couple they need a London base to call their own. The DJ is said to have purchased a £7.5m house around Primrose Hill in 2022, with reports in early 2023 suggesting that he and Vick were adding extensive renovations to the five-bedroom property.
Liam Gallagher
Though the Oasis star has most recently announced his move to the Cotswolds, in November 2025 reports suggested that Liam had purchased a £11m mansion in St John’s Wood. Whether he’s swapping out his London gaff for a country home, or simply making the most of his concert earnings, time is yet to tell. For a man famous for quarrelling with his brother, it’s a bold move – especially as Noel lives just down the road in the nearby enclave of Maida Vale.
Hugh Laurie
Having sold his Tufnell Park property to previous Primrose Hill local, Homeland star Damian Lewis, the actor and comedian is said to have set up base in a large historic home around Belsize Park.
Chris Martin
Once upon a time, before his days of accidentally outing affairs at his Coldplay concerts, Chris Martin and his then-wife Gwyneth Paltrow owned a 33-room mansion in Belsize Park. Though the home was sold for an eye-watering £12.5m in 2022, reports suggest that the Yellow singer still owns a home nearby.
Paul Mescal
While just outside Primrose Hill, in the nearby Kentish Town, Paul Mescal is a notorious North London local. Known for strutting round parks in his short shorts and eating in cult-loved restaurant BRAT, we’re sure you’ll eventually catch a glimpse of the Gladiator II star if you just hang around the area’s hippest bars for long enough.
Rita Ora & Taika Waititi
Raised in Notting Hill and Ladbroke Grove before her later move to the celebrity hotspot of Holland Park, in 2022 the pop star swapped out her West London lifestyle for a new home in Primrose Hill. Describing the area as ‘so bougie’, she told Vogue Australia: ‘The house is so earthy. The garden has its own personality. This home felt like it was my own sort of cottage within the city, which is so hard to find in a city like London […] It just felt like if I didn’t get this house, I’d be an idiot.’ Built in 1877, the property was once home to illustrator Arthur Rackham – the creator behind Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Peter Pan. Today, Rita Ora has decked out the six-bedroom Grade-II listed home with vintage furniture sourced from Portobello Road market
Stefano Gabbana
The second half of Dolce & Gabbana, the renowned Italian fashion designer bought a 6,000 sqft mansion around Primrose Hill in 2014 after beating out director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her husband, actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson, in an intense bidding war. Unfortunately for Gabbana, the house suffered severe damage in 2015 when a fire broke out on the third floor and roof during renovations.

Tom Hiddleston
The Night Manager star is said to have bought a £4.8m four-bedroom art-studio-turned-home in Belsize Park with his fiancée, Fresh Meat and The Marvels actress Zawe Ashton, in 2016.
David Mitchell & Victoria Coren-Mitchell
Having moved on from his bachelor flat in Kilburn where he lived during his younger years, the comedian now lives with his wife and Only Connect host Victoria Coren-Mitchell, as well as their two children. The beloved British couple are said to have bought a home in Belsize Park near the church where they were married in 2014.
Helena Bonham Carter
While Helena Bonham Carter grew up in Hampstead and more recently shared a large Primrose Hill house with ex-partner Tim Burton, she now lives closer to Belsize Park. She can often be spotted having a dip at the Kenwood Ladies Pond, munching on local ice cream cones in the dead of winter, and sampling pub lunches at The Wells Tavern.
Ewan McGregor
When he’s not up north in his Scottish manor house, the Star Wars star can be found around his London home in St John’s Wood. While little is known about the property, going by his 10-bedroom 18th century mansion in Scotland, we’re sure it’s a sight to behold.
Sir Paul McCartney
Sixty years is a pretty long time to live in one home. But somehow Beatles star Paul McCartney has been house proud enough to hold onto his St John’s Wood property since 1965. Located at 7 Cavendish Avenue, McCartney first bought the home in April 1965 for just £40,000 (a little over £1m today). He originally lived there with his then-girlfriend Jane Asher, whom he had met at a Beatles gig at the Royal Albert Hall. In the Beatles biography The Love You Make by Peter Brown, the author noted that the young couple furnished the Georgian mansion by trawling second-hand shops and auction houses. While we don’t know what the interiors look like today, Paul apparently had a closet built that ran the width of the twenty-two-foot room, which he stocked with the latest fashions from King’s Road and the top tailors.
