There’s nothing better than knowing that your favourite book is being turned into a TV show or film, and fans of Candice Carty-Williams’ work will be thrilled to hear that an adaptation of her novel, Queenie, is in the works at Channel 4. Here’s everything we know so far.

What is Queenie about?
Written by Candice Carty-Williams and published in 2019, the novel tells the story of 25 year-old Queenie Jenkins, a Jamaican-British woman working at a national newspaper. Following an unceremonious breakup with her long-term boyfriend, Tom, Queenie makes some less-than-wise dating decisions and finds herself reflecting on questions of identity, fulfilment and self-worth. ‘At its core, it’s a story about a young Black woman’s value and the unrelenting trials and tribulations of life,’ Channel 4’s synopsis states. The Channel 4 adaptation will take the form of an eight-part drama series.

While we know that Queenie will air at some point in 2024, we don’t have a release date yet. Check back here for details.
Where is Queenie streaming?
Queenie will premiere on Channel 4 in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. It will stream exclusively on Hulu in the U.S., Star+ in Latin America, and Disney+ everywhere else.
