Here's what you need to know about the band's King's Cross takeover
With 10 number one albums under their belt (for context, that’s every single album they’ve released), it’s safe to say that beloved British rock band Coldplay is a pretty big deal. Boasting everything from heartrending ballads like ‘Yellow’ to tunes like ‘Viva la Vida’ and ‘Paradise’ begging you to sing along, there’s a Coldplay song for every occasion. The band’s tenth album, Moon Music, continues this toe-tapping legacy: it climbed to the top of the UK charts straight away, boasting the highest first week sales of the decade by a group. Across the Atlantic, Moon Music topped the US charts in its first week too, becoming the first British band since The 1975 in 2016 to top both charts simultaneously.
Their sell-out 2025 UK tour promoting Moon Music is 100 percent powered by renewable energy. To reduce travel (and all of the pollutants that come with it), the band will only play in two venues: two nights at Hull’s Craven Park, followed by ten dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, stretching from 22 August to 8 September.
With the tour, the band also created a visual companion film titled A Film For The Future. It has been available to watch on YouTube since January, but A Film For The Future is best experienced in an immersive space. That’s why Coldplay teamed up with Lightroom to play the film in January – and now in August, A Film For The Future is making a return. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is A Film For The Future?
A Film For The Future is a 44-minute visual companion to Coldplay’s tenth studio album, Moon Music. It has been crafted by more than 150 visual artists from 45 countries who were given short audio clips from Moon Music in summer 2024 and tasked with producing a visual accompaniment to it. Coldplay didn’t give them any artistic direction, but instructed them to simply ‘follow their inspiration’. The result, according to executive producer Ben Mor, is ‘a kaleidoscopic patchwork quilt – a 44-minute multimedia tapestry’.
‘We’re very grateful to all the amazing artists who lent their genius to this film,’ the band said. ‘They’ve created something very beautiful and we’re extremely proud of it.’

‘It was a huge privilege to have the bird’s eye view of such an ambitious project, working with so many incredible animators and filmmakers all working independently of each other,’ Mor added. ‘The final film is simply jaw-dropping and I can’t wait for Coldplay’s fans to see it.’
The project has been a long time coming, first teased on a car numberplate in the artwork to Coldplay’s 2019 album Everyday Life. Another teaser came in the form of the July 2024 music video to ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove’.

How To See It In Person
A Film For The Future first played in Lightroom’s special 360° screening venues in London, Manchester and Seoul in January 2025, but the film will be making a return in August to coincide with Coldplay’s record breaking ten show run at Wembley Stadium. Think state-of-the-art audio technology plus 11-metre high projections, with video on the floor, too.
A Film For The Future will be available to watch from 21 August to 8 September 2025 at Lightroom London (12 Lewis Cubitt Square, London N1C 4DY), and will be accompanied by a Coldplay-King’s-Cross takeover, featuring a photography exhibition, talks and a special merch pop-up.
Tickets are £25pp (£15 for students).
