Wasn’t English Language just the best subject at school? Using as many adjectives as you understood to describe a play you didn’t understand? Fall back in love with creative writing this October by taking part in a course by the experts, Faber. They’ve been running courses since 1929 and have proven that they work with their cohort of success stories, including that of S.J. Watson, who met his agent Claire Conville in the ‘Writing a Novel’ course in 2009, and later wrote his debut novel ‘Before I Go To Sleep’ which was then made into a thrilling movie starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth and Mark Strong. Are you convinced yet?

If it turns out that jewellery making is your forte, rent a bench at their workshop and make use of the equipment in a true artisanal environment!

For a non-committal approach to refreshing whatever painting or drawing skills you might or mightn’t have, drop into a Thursday morning class at Chelsea Fine Arts in SW10. In the relaxed atmosphere, you’ll be able to sit amongst artists of all abilities and be guided by tutors who are there to help each attendee on an individual basis. They provide the materials and they can even hold on to your masterpiece for you if you choose to attend a second session.
