Plot
Prime Target follows Edward Brooks, a young postgraduate student on the brink of a huge mathematical breakthrough which will enable him to remotely operate computers across the world. However, his work gets him tangled up in a world of conspiracy and danger as he realises he is being monitored by America’s National Security Agency.
According to the official synopsis from Apple TV+, Edward’s work centres on ‘finding a pattern in prime numbers’ which will give him ‘the key to every computer in the world.’
‘Soon he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born,’ the synopsis continues, ‘which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a female NSA agent who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on the mathematician’s behavior. Together they start to unravel the troubling conspiracy Edward is at the heart of.’
The eight-episode series was created by Steve Thompson (one of the writers behind Sherlock) and directed by Brady Hood (the director of Top Boy).
