Missing the eccentric, ‘80s world of Stranger Things? You’ll be happy to hear that production on season 5 has officially begun, and Netflix announced the news by sharing an exclusive behind-the-scenes image.

With production only just getting started, it might be a while before the series returns to our screens – but here’s what we know so far.

What Is Stranger Things Season 5 About?

Season 4 ended with Eleven and her Hawkins gang watching with trepidation as the barrier to the Upside Down was finally broken. It’s likely, then, that season 5 will deposit us straight back into a world filled with chaos and overrun with aliens as this terrifying alternate dimension threatens to replace reality as we know it. The season will chart the final battle between our trusty heroes and their main rival, Vecna.

While we don’t have much other information yet, we know that Stranger Things creators, the Duffer Brothers, have plenty more planned for their fictional universe – not forgetting that the theatre show Stranger Things: The First Shadow has already debuted at the Phoenix Theatre in London.

Who Will Star in Stranger Things Season 5?

We don’t know all the details just yet, but from the photo released by Netflix, it’s clear that most of the Stranger Things cast will be returning for the final season. This includes Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Maya Hawke and Winona Ryder, as well as Brett Gelman, Priah Ferguson and Jamie Campbell Bower. Also onboard are Cara Buono and Amybeth McNulty – plus, there’s a new addition to the cast, too: Linda Hamilton, who starred in the Terminator films.

When Will Stranger Things Season 5 Be Released?

Since production is in its earliest stages, there’s no official release date for Stranger Things season 5 just yet – and it’s likely that it won’t air until 2025. Check back here for updates.
