We Have A Release Date For The Bear Season 3

It’s been a big few months for The Bear. The cult FX show has dominated awards season, scooping up three Golden Globes, six Emmys and four trophies at the Critics Choice Awards. But it’s not over yet: Carmy, Sydney and the gang are returning to the kitchen for a highly-anticipated third season. Here’s all the information we have so far about The Bear season 3.

The Bear Season 3: Plot, Cast, Release Date

What Will Happen In The Bear Season 3?

The second season of The Bear follows Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) as they relaunch their Chicago restaurant. It concluded with a chaotic family and friends opening night, which saw Carmy getting locked in the fridge – with lots of questions left unanswered. What does the future hold for Carmy and Claire’s relationship? Is Sydney OK? Will the restaurant survive? 

We don’t know a lot about the plot of season 3 yet, but White told Variety it would be more similar to season 1, honing in once again on the kitchen environment.

‘I do know in January I’m going to spend a fair amount of time getting together with some chefs,’ he said. ‘There’ll be a menu set, I believe, that’s going to be for the restaurant in the third season. And I know that I’m going to start putting together that menu with different chefs and cooking and just trying to get prepared to do more of that stuff on camera.’

He added: ‘We all did a lot of preparation before the first season. I went to culinary school and I spent a lot of time in restaurants and stuff. And then, for the second season, so much of it was about putting the restaurant together, so there wasn’t that much cooking. But now, in the third season, I think we’re going to go back to that functioning kitchen atmosphere that we had in the first.’

Who Will Be In The Cast?

It’s thought all the favourites will return for season 3, including:

• Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto
• Ayo Edebiri as Sydney Adamu
• Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richie Jerimovich
• Abby Elliott as Natalie ‘Sugar’ Berzatto
• Lionel Boyce as Marcus
• Liza Colón-Zayas as Tina

It’s likely Molly Gordon, who plays Carmy’s girlfriend Claire, will also star in the new series. Speaking about her character in an interview, White said: ‘I think she deserves an apology at the very least. So I hope there’s some version of that when I read scripts again.’ 

Season 2 also featured a long list of celebrity appearances from names like Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Colman and Will Poulter, so perhaps season 3 will have another high-profile cameo or two.

When Is The Bear Season 3 Coming Out?

The third season of The Bear will premiere in June 2024, with all episodes set to drop at the same time. This news was announced by FX chairman John Landgraf at the TCA Winter Tour recently, who also explained the decision to make The Bear available to binge-watch. ‘We all watched the first season, we talked about it, and it wasn’t lost on me or anyone else who worked on the show that it’s a little anxiety-inducing,’ he said. ‘So we made a decision that we would drop the whole thing as a binge, because for those of you who saw it, it has a really beautiful, very uplifting ending.’
