The London Book Fair has returned to Olympia London to celebrate its 47-year anniversary

The fair will be happening right in the middle of London Book & Screen Week (9-15 April), a celebration of literature alongside the films, TV shows and virtual worlds books have inspired.

Book enthusiasts, get yourselves down to Olympia London from 10-12 April. 1,500 exhibitors will be displaying their works and 200 free seminars, events, and conferences will be up and running. From authors and booksellers to buyers, distributors, translators and even literary agents, the book world really turns out for this event!

Conferences held during the three days include Introduction to Rights, The Quantum Conference in association with Nielson Book, who will also be hosting a UK Children’s Summit. What Works? Education Conference will explore the transition to digital learning technologies, and The Research & Scholarly Publishing Forum will aim to help international publishers learn and improve their business practice, as well as develop new models and markets.

As far as awards go, the International Excellence Awards celebrates publishing activities outside the UK and will be held today (10 April). The UK Book Blog Awards celebrates how important social media influencers are to the book industry and The Trialblazer Awards praises those who are under 30 and are pioneering their way through publishing.

 What To Buy: The Best Art Books Ever

A range of categories can be seen during the fair such as The Business Forum’s 5 Steps to Slash your Schedules. Children’s Edutainment will see Emotion Sells! Unlocking the Power of Family and Reading and for Literary Translation, Getting Started in Literary Translation. The Baltics Market Focus will host 30 talks including A Dialogue Between Poets: Baltic and UK Poets Explore Memory and History . Enter the Chinese Publishing Market and Taking the Fear Out of AI: Machine Versus Human, or Technology Enabler for Humanity  are among those in the Technology section.

Among authors attending, Joanna Trollope will be in conversation with Journalist Mary Ann Sieghart‏ on the first day (10 April). Jo Jo Moyes will be in conversation with Sheila Crowley on 11 April and the last day of the fair will see Jacqueline Wilson talk to Julia Eccleshare (12 April).

Head to the poets corner to see ‘Poetry Stream’ events, in conversation with poets such as Imtiaz Dharker.

The London Book Fair’s charity of the year is the Kittiwake Trust Multilingual Library who provides books to those who need them.
