The buzzy tables to book this month
With a new month comes a whole host of exciting new restaurants. London’s food calendar is jam-packed with exciting launches this April, including a much-anticipated follow-up to Manteca, a second branch of Notting Hill hotspot Los Mochis, and the first UK outpost of a beloved Parisian-inspired karaoke brand. These are the new London restaurants to have on your radar this April.
London Restaurant Openings: April 2024
Mimosa
One of London’s most iconic hotels, The Langham is welcoming a new restaurant this spring, Mimosa. The second outpost from the Parisian restaurant (the original sits within the Hotel de La Marine), it aims to bring a slice of Riviera charm to the capital with a Mediterranean-inspired menu. Highlights will include the famous mimosa eggs, beef tartare, grilled parmesan taglioni, and niçoise salad. The space will be equally charming, all terracottas, blues and greens paired with luxurious marble, brass and wood.

Cloth, Farringdon
Joe Haynes and Ben Butterworth spent years supplying London’s top restaurants with wine before deciding to launch their own place. Set to launch this spring is Cloth, an eatery and wine bar set in a Grade II listed building in Farringdon. The pair have joined forces with chef Tom Hurst, who has worked at places like Salon, Larry’s and The Marksman, with a menu focusing on seasonal, British produce. Opening dishes will include Cornish squid with black olive, Somerset hogget and grilled cos lettuce, and rhubarb sorbet with blood orange caramel. Naturally wine will be a big focus, with around half the list made up of bottles from Joe and Ben’s businesses – Joe leans towards Germany, while Ben specialises in grower champagnes.

abc kitchens at The Emory, Belgravia
London’s first all-suite hotel is soon to open in Belgravia: The Emory, the latest launch from Maybourne Hotel Group. The luxurious venue will include the first UK outpost of abc kitchens, the esteemed restaurant brand from French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who also has a dining room at The Connaught. It will bring together elements of Vongerichten’s three New York locations: on the menu you’ll find an array of crudos, grills, pizzas and pastas. Guests can also expect chic interiors courtesy of French designer Rémi Tessier, with glass windows offering impressive views of Hyde Park and Kensington.

OMA, Borough Market
Manteca in Shoreditch has risen to cult status since opening in 2021, renowned for its nose-to-tail cooking. And now its co-founder, David Carter, is back with a new restaurant, OMA, coming soon to Borough Market. Set to open this April, up a flight of stairs just off Bedale Street, OMA will draw from the cuisine of the Greek islands and surrounding coastal regions. It will feature both a crudo bar, which will showcase a display of dayboat fish and shellfish, alongside an open, live-fire kitchen, where the kitchen team will sizzle up dry-aged meat, Cornish fish and vegetables from Flourish Farm. Heading up the kitchen alongside Carter will be Nick Molyviatis and Jorge Paredes, formerly head chef of Kiln and executive chef of Sabor respectively. And that’s not all: below OMA will sit a more casual sister restaurant, AGORA, inspired by the buzz of Athens’ food streets.

Los Mochis London City
Japanese-Mexican restaurant Los Mochis has been a hit in Notting Hill since it opened in 2021– and no doubt its new sister restaurant will have similar success. Opening soon in the City is a larger flagship branch, which will set up camp on the rooftop of 100 Liverpool Street. It will feature a 3,000 sq. ft terrace offering panoramic views of the city, and the same unique fusion concept as the original, with new menu additions helmed by ex-Nobu chef Leonard Tanyag. The build-your-own tacos are sure to be a highlight, paired with ceviches, sashimi and tostaditos aplenty.
Opening 11 April 2024, losmochis.co.uk
July, Fitzrovia
Despite the name, new Fitzrovia restaurant and wine bar July will be opening its doors this April. A joint project between Solynka Dumas and Julian Oschman, the eatery will focus on Alsatian-inspired food, with the kitchen headed up by Holly Hayes, previously of 40 Maltby Street. On the menu you’ll find the kinds of dishes Dumas and Oschman grew up eating in their home countries of France and Germany: think Fosse Meadows roast chicken, roast beef sandwiches and homemade soups. The wine list, meanwhile, has been created by sommelier Honey Spencer, focusing on low-intervention varieties from small producers in Europe.

BAM Karaoke Box
Karaoke gets a luxurious twist at this new opening, which is already a popular spot in Paris. At 10,000 square feet, it’s set to be Europe’s largest karaoke venue – home to 22 private rooms plus a live music stage for a bit of inspiration. Chic interiors come from BradyWilliams, with the central BAM BAM Bar decked out with deconstructed chandeliers and sumptuous fabrics. It’s not all about the singing though: guests can also enjoy plates of devilled eggs with caviar and chives, steak tartare croustade, and cured salmon rilettes, alongside classic cocktails for a bit of liquid courage.
