Once again, Covent Garden’s Alpine-inspired cafe The Delaunay Counter – which sits beside the main restaurant – is hosting a fortnight of Oktoberfest celebrations. A special menu includes hot dogs with lyonnaise onions and mustard, roasted poussin with lemon and caper butter, and mushroom stroganoff with bread dumplings. There will also be a live band and a Stiegl Bier Cart, which will be serving up takeaway pints, and on 19 September guests can get involved with a ticketed beer tasting event, complete with charcuterie and pretzels.

German Gymnasium, King’s Cross
The clue’s in the name: King’s Cross restaurant German Gymnasium is all about Bavarian cooking. This October, the dining room is bringing back its Oktoberfest celebrations, complete with authentic German beers from James Clay and Sons. Head chef Alex Thiel has created an Oktoberfest Spezialitäten menu, featuring dishes like Schweinebraten, a roast pork collar with red cabbage and dark beer sauce; and Rinderroulade, braised beef roulade with red cabbage. A live oompah band will play classic Bavarian tunes every Friday – and be sure to don your finest traditional attire, as you’ll be rewarded with a free stein of beer.

Those who really want to party should head to Soho’s German-inspired bar Albert’s Schloss, which is going all out with three weeks of Bavarian fun. This spot is renowned for its lively atmosphere: expect to dance the night away on the tables to traditional oompah bands. Its Cook Haus restaurant, meanwhile, will serve up traditional dishes like paprika-roasted half chicken and 12 hour brined crispy Schweinshaxe pork knuckle, alongside beer and Alpine cocktails, like the Oktoberfest Spritz.
