From sushi to afternoon tea, there's much for foodies to be excited about at the new Rosewood

Over four years in the making, the hotly anticipated Chancery Rosewood will open its doors this September. Housed in the former U.S. Embassy in Grosvenor Square, it will no doubt be a feast for the eyes, with British architect Sir David Chipperfield brought in to revamp the Grade II-listed building’s historic facade. But perhaps most exciting is what lies inside – specifically when it comes to food and drink.

7 Restaurants & Bars To Open At The Chancery Rosewood

The five-star hotel has unveiled its culinary line-up, revealing there will be seven places to eat and drink. Causing an especially big buzz is the arrival of the first London outpost of celebrity hotspot Carbone, which first launched in New York in 2013, going on to open branches in Las Vegas, Miami, Hong Kong and Riyadh.

Serving Italian-American cuisine, Carbone attracts a star-studded clientele, with everyone from Taylor Swift to Rihanna to Barack Obama dining there over the years. It’s all about fresh pasta, seafood and steaks, with signature dishes including the spicy vodka rigatoni and the Caesar salad, served tableside.

That’s not the only Stateside restaurant coming to the hotel. Chancery Rosewood will also be home to Tobi Masa, an offshoot of esteemed New York sushi restaurant Masa. Helmed by the eponymous chef-founder Masayoshi ‘Masa’ Takayama, the London eatery will serve ingredient-led, high-end sushi, including favourites like Surimi Masa Pasta, Peking Duck Tacos and Masa Toro Tartare – a fatty tuna dish topped with caviar. If its American sibling is anything to go by, it will cost a pretty penny: dining at Masa begins at $750 a head, while the ultra-exclusive hinoki counter experience will set you back $950.

Of course there’s a rooftop bar too: the Eagle Bar, promising skyline views, a terrace and cocktails from NoMad London’s Lina Oster.

Other restaurants set to launch include Serra, a Mediterranean restaurant run by chef Alex Povall, whose CV includes the likes of Berenjak and Angela Hartnett’s Murano. Drawing on the cuisine of Greece and Italy, it will serve relaxed fare from breakfast through to dinner.

Pastry lovers, meanwhile, will be spoilt for choice at Jacqueline, a tea room spearheaded by pâtisserie chef Marius Dufay. This will offer afternoon tea, including flower-inspired pastries ‘inspired by single blooms’. Alternatively, there’s GSQ, the hotel’s deli serving coffee, pastries and sandwiches, with an outdoor area in Grosvenor Square.

Chancery Rosewood will open its doors on 1 September 2025, along with Serra, Eagle Bar and GSQ. Carbone and Tobi Masa will follow later in the month.

Aside from the food and drink offering, the hotel will have 144 rooms – all being suites, and many boasting views over Mayfair. There will also be a subterranean spa, Asaya, featuring a 25-metre swimming pool and five treatment rooms, plus a fitness centre with reformer Pilates beds.

This will be the capital’s second Rosewood hotel: the original Holborn location, Rosewood London, opened in 2013 following a transformation of another Grade II listed building. Food and drink is a pivotal part here too, with offerings including Scarfes Bar, one of the city’s top cocktail bars, Holborn Dining Room, and the Mirror Room, known for its artistic afternoon teas.

Speaking about the opening, Michael Bonsor, managing director of The Chancery Rosewood, said: ‘As we draw nearer to opening the doors of The Chancery Rosewood, we are excited to bring a new level of luxury and cultural vibrancy to London. With an exceptional blend of history, contemporary design, and unique culinary experiences, this landmark destination will set the stage for a dynamic and immersive social scene in Mayfair. Our commitment to hyper-personalised service and curated experiences will ensure every visit feels uniquely enriching and unforgettable.’
