Patience Series 2: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More

Filming has commenced on Patience series 2, with breakout star Ella Maisy Purvis set to return to the title role, joined by a new detective played by Jessica Hynes. ‘The response and popularity of series 1 was staggering, so I am beyond thrilled to dive back into the world of Patience for series 2, especially because we have some brilliant new cases to crack,’ Purvis says. ‘Buckle up!’

What Will Happen?

Patience series 2 will take us back to the City of York Police station, where Patience (Purvis) continues her work in the criminal records department. Of course, she has already established herself as an invaluable member of the team thanks to the events of series 1. However, a new boss at the station – DI Frankie Monroe (Jessica Hynes) – brings a new management style and dynamic across the station, which becomes tricky for both to navigate.

In her personal life, Patience is navigating love for the first time, beginning a relationship with colleague Elliot (Tom Lewis). Meanwhile, the arrival of a new PR consultant gives the police department a makeover. All this is interwoven between new intriguing crimes for the team to tackle, bringing breathtaking settings like York Minster to the small screen.

Who Will Star?

Ella Maisy Purvis is back as our title star, joined this time by Jessica Hynes as DI Frankie Monroe. It seems Detective Bea Metcalf (Laura Fraser) won’t be returning for series 2.

‘I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Patience as DI Frankie Monroe,’ Hynes says. ‘I hugely enjoyed the first series as a viewer and I am looking forward to joining the team for the second series to be in the middle of the action.’
