Netflix’s Sirens: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More
What do you get when you smush together three shining stars, each one of the brightest emerging from their respective generations? A smash hit limited series – or so Netflix hopes. Sirens is a female-led dark comedy in the works at Netflix set to star Julianne Moore, Milly Alcock and Meghann Fahy, and the first project to stem from a multi-year deal between the streamer and writer Molly Smith Metzler, announced in 2022, after the huge success of miniseries Maid starring Margaret Qualley.
Another blonde bombshell is also attached to the project: Margot Robbie, who is one of the executive producers through her company LuckyChap.

What Is Sirens About?
Set over Labor Day weekend, Sirens centres on sisters Devon (Fahy) and Simone (Alcock). When Simone gets a new job for enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell (Moore), Devon is suspicious of their creepy relationship. Michaela (or ‘Kiki’ to those close to her) leads a cult-ish life of luxury, which is like a drug to Simone – so Devon thinks it’s time for an intervention.
‘I like to talk about Devon as the metronome of the show,’ says series creator and executive producer Molly Smith Metzler. ‘She sets the pace, and especially the comedy. Casting Meghann was a gift from the heavens.’
Devon tracks Simone down to a lavish island where mansions and hydrangeas abound, and the Kells island estate sprawls. Here, as she grapples to reconnect with her strangely changed sister, Devon learns what a formidable opponent Michaela truly is. Indeed, this island is Michaela’s kingdom – and, it turns out, she also reigns supreme in Simone’s heart.

‘Julianne’s just the dream for this role because she does feel ethereal,’ Smith Metzler says on casting Moore in the role. ‘She’s from another kingdom. She is not a normie.
‘This story has a lot of teeth,’ Smith Metzler continues. ‘There are real moments of drama, and it’s going to make people uncomfortable. Operatic is a word I like to use to describe it. It’s a true dark comedy — and it’s got a Greek mythology vibe.’
