Wallpaper Ideas For Every Room
Hallways, Powder Rooms & Closets
Looking to make the smaller rooms in your home feel a little more lively? Wallpaper is your secret weapon.
‘Luxury isn’t about square footage, it’s about intention – and in small spaces like powder rooms, reading nooks, entryways, or even closets, a bold pattern can transform what might otherwise be an overlooked corner into a design moment,’ states Philippa Thorp, founder and director of Thorp.
Oversized florals are certainly on trend this season – particularly when it comes to bathrooms – but more intricate patterns will also help to make a smaller room feel larger and more impressive. ‘A vibrant botanical print or a geometric design draws the eye and gives a small area purpose and identity,’ Philippa confirms. ‘These patterns create the illusion of depth and interest, making the room feel considered and layered rather than cramped or utilitarian.’
Dining Rooms & Bedrooms
If you fancy leaning into the mural wallpaper trend, dining rooms and bedrooms provide the perfect opportunity.
‘Mural wallpapers can completely transform an interior by adding immediate large-scale impact, creating an immersive visual experience,’ says David Harris, design director at Andrew Martin. ‘Chinoiserie and lush tree designs are perfect for both dining rooms and bedrooms – connecting your interior and exterior.’ For a more whimsical touch, however, consider ‘maps, landscapes and travel-inspired designs’.
While striking murals and even ceiling designs might feel like a risky move, experts at London-based studio Zulufish are noticing it more than ever. ‘With many people returning to the office, homeowners are keen to transform what previously served as a calm home office into a social and striking entertaining space,’ explains Caroline Milns, the studio’s head of interior design. ‘We’re creating dining rooms that blend rich patterns, daring colour combinations and thoughtfully crafted custom furniture. The room is becoming a space where design experimentation is celebrated.’
Living Rooms
Colour drenching might still be dominating interiors, but wallpaper is still as popular as ever when it comes to living rooms – and stripes are this season’s biggest trend.
‘We’re seeing a real revival of stripes, especially in maritime-inspired palettes of white, blue and sage green,’ reflects Helen O’Connor, product and trend manager at 247 Blinds. ‘Stripes can risk looking chaotic without structure, but within a set colour palette, they feel fresh and intentional.’
Stripes are also another brilliant way of opening up your space. ‘Horizontal stripes can make a space feel wider, while vertical stripes are perfect for creating an illusion of height, making ceilings feel taller,’ adds Michael Rolland, managing director at The Paint Shed. ‘If you live in a newer build with low ceilings, consider a combination of dusky, muted pinks, or try pastel blue and navy for a modern, heritage-inspired twist.’
