Games & The Arts
Sport covers netball, hockey, tennis, gymnastics, cricket, pop lacrosse, rounders, athletics, cross country and swimming. Hanford is also famous for its riding and girls of all different proficiencies get to ride at least once a week.
Pastoral Care
Boarding is a key part of Hanford life – each of the girls has their own bed at school whether they are full boarders, flexi-boarders or day girls. This ensures that each girl feels at home at the school. With an amazing team of Matrons, Nurses and gaps, all the girls receive individual attention and support in the context of a homely and happy atmosphere.
Senior Exit Schools
Choosing a Senior school can be a daunting prospect at times however, Hanford pastoral and academic staff are on hand to help the girls find the right Senior school for them.
Recent Scholarships
Fifteen scholarships to top senior schools were awarded to Hanford girls this year; schools include Ouncle, St Mary’s Calne, Sherborne Girls, Bryanston, Wells Cathedral School, Ampleforth, Leweston and Clayesmore.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
Hanford allows children to be children, to enjoy their childhood while providing the opportunity to excel in any sphere. Hanford nurtures the seeds of achievement and independence of all girls allowing them to flourish wherever they go in their lives after Hanford.
Outstanding Characteristics
Hanford is a glorious Jacobean house deep in the Dorset countryside. This is a school where academic achievement sits comfortably alongside high spirits, mutual support, clubs and committees, ponies and riding before breakfast, home grown food and flowers. In a world which expects conformity, Hanford encourages individuality and imagination and provides a magical home-from-home environment.
