The Curriculum

The early learning goals in each of the seven areas are achieved through a mixture of structured and free play activities and are interspersed with more formal methods of teaching where appropriate. Our more advanced children will begin to work on aspects of the Year 1 curriculum and they will be given the opportunity to attend some lessons at the prep school if they are ready.

Games & The Arts

We offer a huge variety of music, art and sporting opportunities for your children. There are singing classes and children learn a variety of musical instruments; ballet and French weekly; PE and swimming; nature studies, as well as after school clubs for football, hip hop, drama, science and arts and crafts.

Pastoral Care

Within the walls of the garden the children are provided with a safe and secure learning environment where they can experience the joy of childhood in the fresh air; exploring, climbing, sliding, jumping and running in our wonderful outdoor space. Classrooms are bright and colourful displays ensure that the indoor environment is also stimulating. Pupils’ work adorns the walls and the kindness tree near the school entrance celebrates particular acts of kind-heartedness, such as sharing ones toys or including someone new in a game.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

At Hyde Park School we aim to release the genius in every child through providing a rich and exciting curriculum. It is a school where pupils can experience the joy of childhood and reach their full potential in a place where learning is exciting and challenging but where there is no sense of pressure.

Outstanding Characteristics

The pre-prep is situated within a few minutes of Hyde Park in a beautiful private garden. Perfect location for children to reap the benefits of indoor and outdoor play: feeling safe, taking risks, gaining self-confidence, learning self-expression and making friends. We aim for children to be happy and self-assured and they naturally develop a love of learning.
