The Curriculum

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum, where science and maths are as popular as humanities, languages and the arts. We are immensely proud of the academic value we add: girls achieve at least one grade higher per subject at GCSE than they would at an average independent school.

Games & The Arts

We are enormously proud of our long and distinguished sporting heritage at Queenswood. Everyone is encouraged to participate, whatever their expertise. Girls can choose from a huge range of sports and go on to compete in their chosen field at school, county and national levels.

There is an insatiable appetite for performance at Queenswood, and we are proud to showcase the girls’ talents in our superb theatre facilities. In addition to public performances of our superb practical exam work, there are whole school plays, an annual dance extravaganza, and an inter-House Performing Arts competition.

Pastoral Care

The Good Schools Guides states that, according to parents, our pastoral care is ‘phenomenal’. They also say that Queenswood parents rave about the ‘proactive approach to mental health’. The Guide also highlights our mentoring programme and the fact that the girls ‘go above and beyond to help one another’. This is all supported by our fantastic pastoral staff, like our dedicated boarding assistants and our resident full-time counsellor.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

‘This is a dynamic learning community where the girls’ interests, happiness, and wellbeing are the first consideration at all time. Our girls are at the heart of everything we do, and we know that they feel valued and enriched by the experiences they share here.’ – Mrs Jo Cameron

Outstanding Characteristics

For more than 125 years, Queenswood has delivered a truly progressive education in the most idyllic of environments. The school community is large enough that we are able to offer outstanding opportunities, yet small enough that girls like your daughter are known personally to teaching and support staff alike. Their individuality, unique potential and special qualities are nurtured and realised.

Queenswood is a community where girls achieve outstanding results, both in and beyond the classroom. The opportunities for growth and development for boarders and day girls are extensive, exciting and fun.

Most importantly, Queenswood girls are happy – and happy girls are successful girls.
