Entrance Procedure: Nursery to year 2 admissions: Children can join pre-prep from three years old. For the early years in lower-prep, nursery to year 2, there is no selection criteria and is open to all. Children accepted into these year groups in lower-prep will be invited to spend a day within this wonderful, friendly environment to meet other pupils and staff. This is a good start in becoming comfortable with a typical school day and staff will assess whether the prospective pupil will be suitable for attending further.

Year 2 to year 8 admissions: From year 3 upwards there are certain criteria candidates must meet before joining. A positive report from the child’s current school must be received, after which an informal assessment of maths and English will be undertaken within a fun taster day at the school. This taster day will be with his/her current year group.

The final decision will come to the Headmaster who will approve the enrolment of the child based on successful references, assessment and comments made by staff. Candidates for year 7 will have a more involved examination process where the prospective 11+ pupil will have to take written exams; a combination of baseline testing to establish raw ability, and subject-specific material based on familiar curriculum content. These are carefully designed to allow the applicant to show themselves at their best.
