An ethos of inclusive excellence pervades sport and the arts. A great tradition of high achievement in music, art and drama; poets, writers and artists-in-residence. Over 30 sports available: fixtures for all abilities; ‘Going for Gold Programme’ for the elite.

Pastoral Care

At least two, if not three, tutors per form and a strong peer-mentoring system. Great talks for pupils and parents on welfare issues. Counselling provision and full-time nurse; mindfulness and yoga. Excellent food and sport also critical components of the approach to well-being. All receive individual attention and tailored guidance as part of the school’s higher education and careers offering, The Futures Programme, to prepare for life beyond school.

University Places

Over 85 per cent to first choice university; typically 20 per cent+ to Oxbridge.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

Opening doors, hearts and minds. All girls encouraged to develop creativity, humanity and a commitment to life-long learning. The aim is for all students to leave South Hampstead as confident, adaptable and pioneering young women, ready to make their mark on the world and to lead happy, successful lives.

Outstanding Characteristics

Academic powerhouse, with kindness and curiosity at its core. Buzzing co-curricular programme. Girls encouraged to lead activities, be themselves and express their opinions. ‘Speaker Series’ welcomes incredible high-profile visitors in to talk. A busy, vibrant and unpretentious school that fosters intellectual spark, creativity, debate and a real joy in learning.
