The royal father-daughter duo watches as the Lionesses pulled in another Euros victory

Whether you were watching from home, the pub or stadium itself, it’s safe to say the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final pulled in quite the crowd yesterday. The nation, holding its breath in anticipation for the winning goal, was locked in to see England face off against Spain once again – and ready to celebrate when the Lionesses brought home the gold yet again. And amongst those watching on from the crowds in Basel were two very familiar (royal) faces: Prince William and his daughter, Princess Charlotte, made a surprise appearance at the Women’s Euro final, cheering on the England team with as much enthusiasm as any other footie fan.

Prince William & Princess Charlotte Attend The 2025 The Women’s Euro Final

Stepping into St Jakob-Park, the largest football stadium in Switzerland, Prince William and Princess Charlotte looked nearly giddy with excitement. The Wales family are known for being prominent fans of all and every sport (and having spent the day out together at Wimbledon earlier this month), and their enthusiasm certainly came to the fore for UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 final.

The father-daughter duo shared a photo on Instagram just ahead of the game, chanting: ‘Let’s go Lionesses!’ They also made time to meet Spain’s Princess Leonor and Infanta SofĂa, posing for photos pre-kick off.

Prince William and Princess Charlotte could be spotted quietly conferring with each other throughout the game – wearing matching looks of anxiety when England failed to defend a goal against Spain, and then twin smiles of joy when Chloe Kelly made the Lionesses’s winning move. Hugging, cheering and jumping for joy, it’s safe to say the two enjoyed a pretty stellar father-daughter day out.

The Prince of Wales later made an appearance on the field to congratulate the team himself. As patron of the FA (and formerly its President), the royal has always had a strong passion for the sport – and is notably a big supporter of the Lionesses, having presented the team with the Euros trophy when they won at home in 2022.

Stepping onto the pitch to greet the players, the Prince of Wales was again full of cheer, clasping hands and laughing along with the team in celebration.

The same sentiment was highlighted on the family’s official social channels. ‘An incredible night for the Lionesses and England in Basel,’ said the royals in an Instagram post following the Lionesses’s win. ‘Congratulations to Sarina, the team and all the support staff. Champions!’

What Did Princess Charlotte Wear?

Tapping into one of the biggest trends of spring/summer 2025, Princess Charlotte donned a navy polka-dot dress with frill shoulders from American label Guess. It appears the young royal opted to follow in her mother’s footsteps, re-wearing a dress that she previously wore last summer for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

Kate Middleton has become known for re-wearing some of her loveliest dresses and gowns for multiple events, making minor tweaks to the ensemble to give it a fresh look. More recently, the Princess of Wales wore a butter yellow dress by British designer Emilia Wickstead to a Buckingham Palace garden party – having worn it previously in June 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee service. And it seems we can expect the same level of sartorial savviness from her daughter.

The Prince of Wales, meanwhile, stepped out in a dark suit and white shirt, accessorising with a tie dressed in the England team’s colours: navy, with thin red and white stripes.
