‘It’s all about high shine, creating hair so sleek it appears to flow like liquid,’ adds Gem Schwartz, founder of Taylor Rose Hair. The stylist notes that, while this style of bob doesn’t adhere to a set shape, you’ll usually it find it ‘sits just above the shoulders and is ultra glossy and ultra blunt.’

That glossy finish. ‘While traditional bobs may focus on shape, the liquid bob emphasises a high-shine, smooth texture, achieved through specific styling techniques and products,’ says Melissa. ‘Its popularity is driven by the desire for low-maintenance yet glamorous styles that embrace natural beauty, hair health and personal comfort.’
Celebrities like Hailey Bieber Lily Collins have showcased variations of the Liquid Bob, adding their unique style to the classic cut.

‘Request a bob with a super blunt sleek, straight finish and discuss the desired length and texture,’ recommends Melissa. ‘Bringing reference photos can also help communicate your desired look effectively.’
How To Style A Liquid Bob
The trick to achieving the look, Melissa tells us, is by doubling down on a clean silhouette. Those after a straight liquid bob can ‘use a straightener for a sleek finish and apply a shine serum to enhance glossiness,’ instructs Melissa. ‘My favourites would be Authentic Beauty Concept Glow Spray Serum or the Unite 7 Seconds Detangler.
