The UK‘s hotel scene is moving from strength to strength, with innovative renovations, cute guest houses, and plenty of pubs with rooms – there’s never been a better time for a staycation. Whether you’re looking for a new, buzzy London hotel, somewhere to hunker down in the country, or a boutique bolthole in a British town you’ve never visited before, here are all the new UK hotel openings we are looking forward to in 2023.

The Wesley Camden Town – London

Opening: January 2023

Following a two-year construction period and £9 million of investment, The Wesley Camden Town – sister to The Wesley Euston – will be a boutique hotel of 38 rooms, situated in a converted chapel. The Methodist Church will remain, along with a community space, on the lower ground floor, with new hotel rooms across four floors above. thewesley.co.uk

Ruby Zoe – London

Opening: February 2023

The UK’s second Ruby Group hotel will be carnival themed Ruby Zoe. Based in London’s chic Notting Hill Gate area, Ruby Zoe’s 173 stylish bedrooms will be within walking distance of Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, and the famous Portobello Road Market. ruby-hotels.com

Treehouse Hotel – Manchester

Opening: Early 2023

Following the success of SH Hotels & Resorts London rendition, Treehouse Hotel is coming to Manchester early in 2023. Located a stone’s throw from the city’s top shopping destinations, the hotel will be housed in a restored building with a new, biophilic edge (in true Treehouse fashion): roof gardens, green walls, a kitchen garden harvesting rainwater, and even a rooftop apiary. treehousehotels.com

Virgin Hotels Glasgow – Scotland

Opening: Early 2023

Following the opening of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh in 2022 (Virgin’s first hotel in Europe), a second UK (and second Scotland) property is fast approaching: Virgin Hotels Glasgow, with a prime city-centre position and panoramic views over the city on one side and the River Clyde on the other. The Mole Resort – Devon

Opening: April 2023

After launching in September with 15 lodges, Devon‘s The Mole Resort is set to expand to 58 lodges and a luxury hotel by April. Wildes Hotel – Chester

Opening: Spring 2023

The Wildes Hotel Group is transforming a historic site on Bridge Street in Chester into a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel, set to open in spring 2023. The £5 million development will feature 18 bedrooms, a spa with rooftop pool overlooking the city, and a destination restaurant and bar by Chef Harry Guy, as well as outdoor seating set within the historic Rows of Chester, with views of the famous Eastgate Street clock. wildeschester.com

Opening: Spring 2023

Red Carnation Hotels’ first property in Scotland, 100 Princes Street is set to be a celebration of the beautiful city of Edinburgh, the heritage of Scotland and the exclusive address of the former Overseas League. Led by the design team behind the iconic Ashford Castle in Ireland, Toni Tollman, Philippe Bonino and Brian Brennan, this restoration will look to protect and retain the original heart and soul of 100 Princes Street, restoring the original building and its iconic features. Inspired by Alexander McQueen, the design team sought to create a sense of place, working with local artisans to create bespoke pieces including custom-made tartan designed by Araminta Campbell, and a central staircase which features a hand-painted mural by Croxford & Saunders. 100princes-street.com

Opening: Spring 2023

Raffles Hotels and Resorts and Hinduja Group is set to open London’s first Raffles address in the new year, located in the landmark Grade II listed former Old War Office on Whitehall. Once inhabited by Britain’s most famous statesmen and spies from Winston Churchill to Ian Fleming, it will be open to the public for the first time with 120 rooms and suites plus 85 branded residences, 11 restaurants and bars including a rooftop bars with views across Whitehall, The Mall and Buckingham Palace. theowo.london

Mandarin Oriental Mayfair – London

Opening: Spring 2023

From Knightsbridge to Hanover Square, there’s a new Mandarin Oriental coming to another of the town’s chicest neighbourhoods. With 50 guestrooms and 78 private residences designed by Studio Indigo, the property has been designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners with the public space interiors designed by Tokyo based studio, Curiosity. A discreet and intimate sister property to the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, the Mandarin Oriental Mayfair will also be home to an urban spa, and the first namesake Akira Back restaurant in the UK along with his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept. mandarinoriental.com

Dao by Dorsett Hornsey Town Hall – London

Opening: Spring 2023

Part of a significant restoration project in north London, this aparthotel will be housed in the fully restored Grade II* listed Hornsey Town Hall building, alongside an Arts Centre for events, co-working spaces, cinema, and various F&B outlets including a rooftop terrace. The Chelsea Townhouse – Chelsea, London

Opening: 2023

From The Draycott Hotel to The Chelsea Townhouse: this series of three redbrick townhouses on Cadogan Gardens in the heart of Chelsea will undergo a sensitive restoration after being acquired by Cadogan. A sister property to The Mayfair Townhouse, The Chelsea Townhouse will be operated by Iconic Luxury Hotels from 5 January 2023, keeping its 35 luxurious bedrooms and suites in the restoration, many of which overlook a private garden square.

The Broadwick Soho

The Broadwick – Soho, London

Opening: 2023

Featuring 57 rooms and suits, The Broadwick Soho is the first London hotel designed by Martin Brudnizki, the man behind the beloved interiors at Annabel’s and The Wolseley. The designer describes the new venture as ‘your eccentric godmother’s Soho townhouse’, with many of the higher-tier rooms and suites featuring private balconies overlooking the bustling streets of the city.
