Polestar's latest SUV is now available for order in the UK

After debuting in China, Polestar’s new model is now on sale in the UK – and it’s set to be one of the biggest automotive launches of 2024. Described by the car manufacturer as a ‘new breed of SUV coupé’, the Polestar 4 is making history as the first car available to buy in the UK without a rear window, instead using a screen to provide a clearer view for drivers.

The Polestar 4: What To Expect

The Swedish-made car will use a high-definition screen to show the driver a real-time feed from a roof-mounted rear camera, which will enable a wider field of view than in most modern cars. ‘With Polestar Precept we previewed a stunning new occupant experience by removing the rear window and pushing the rear header, which plays an integral safety role, further back,’ said Maximilian Missoni, Head of Design at Polestar. ‘This means that now, rear occupants can have a unique experience in our SUV coupé.’

Other key features include a low nose, retractable door handles, rear aero blades and air flow optimisation, all working to enhance the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle. Polestar 4 will be the brand’s fastest car to date, with the ability to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds.

The interior of the car, meanwhile, is designed around the theme of ‘soft tech’, taking inspiration from the fashion and sportswear industries, with two stylish new exterior colours to choose from: Storm and Electron.

It’s certainly not all style over substance though. The new launch marks a step forward in Polestar’s mission to create a truly climate-neutral production car by 2030, with the Polestar 4 carrying the lowest carbon footprint of all its cars. ‘Polestar 4 is produced in Geely Holdings’ SEA factory in Hangzhou Bay, China, which combines green electricity that carries the I-REC hydro power certificate, with photovoltaic electricity from the roof of the plant,’ says Polestar. ‘A higher use of low-carbon aluminum from smelters using hydropower electricity helps reduce the climate impact further.’

For the interiors, a ‘mono-material’ approach is applied, meaning all layers of certain components are produced from the same base material, allowing them to be recycled more effectively.

Retailing at a starting price of £59,990, the Polestar 4 is expected to go on sale in the UK from August 2024. Find out more at polestar.com.
