Tech entrepreneur, philanthropist and MoneySuperMarket co-founder Simon Nixon has a new venture up his sleeve with his portfolio of design-inspired getaways.

Simon Nixon might be best-known as the founder of price comparison website MoneySuperMarket (or rather the ‘You’re soooo MoneySuperMarket’ ads), but despite his tech entrepreneur background, Nixon harbours a perhaps lesser-known passion for art and design. His SimonEscapes holiday homes promise more than just exclusivity, but provide a ‘part villa, part art gallery’ experience for guests, immersing them in high-end design and curated artworks from Nixon’s personal collection. Offering a fusion of high-end living with contemporary art, just make sure that when Simon says escape, you relax as best you can.

Each residence in his portfolio is designed with ‘Art Forward’ interiors. Integrating architecture, design and a rotating collection of over 50 artworks, Nixon personally selects and curates the collections to engage his guests. Drawing attention to the work of emerging contemporary artists, he prioritises their cutting-edge collections in his curated design – and as a board member of the European Collectors Circle at Tate, Nixon supports young artists beyond the confines of his properties too.

Located in some of his favourite properties across the world, his holiday homes span everywhere from cosy corners of the UK, to exotic beachfront villas abroad. Sleeping up to 10 people in the largest properties and six in the smallest, every stay offers a tailored concierge assistance, curated local adventures, guided art tours, wellness services and amenities such as private chefs. Every season, the art in the holiday homes is refreshed so that guests can gain a new artistic experience with each and every visit.

Inside The Homes

Visitors can stay in the lakefront lodge of Grey Gables on Lake Windermere which offers its own private jetty, home cinema and games room, while the rustic Cotswolds property of Elkstones boasts an indoor pool, sauna and countryside views. The interiors style of Elkstones has been created by celebrated British restaurateur and interior designer Jill Stein to curate a coastal hip vibe, equipped with driftood features, oversized storm lanterns, and locally sourced art. This theme is particularly echoed in a Scabetti (‘shoal light’) of swirling bone-china fish in the double-height entrance hall. Elsewhere, in Cornwall, guests can enjoy uninterrupted sea views in Little Polgarron beach house, as well as a cinema room, table tennis and access to the South West coastal walking path.

Further afield, Sa Milana and Sa Llupia in Mallorca offer up outdoor pools and mountain views. At the Cape Town resort guests can enjoy a calm sea and proximity to hiking and cycling routes around the peaks of the Cape Peninsula. The home is also a stone’s throw from world-class restaurants, acclaimed galleries and historical attractions, as well as several renowned galleries.

Alongside the zen cactus garden, guests at the Malibu retreat can enjoy the views of the dramatic Santa Monica mountains. Designed by celebrated West Coast architects Olson Kundig, the retreat has an industrial look with linear concrete, black steel and glass panels which is softened by light wood, natural materials and carefully curated artworks.

Meanwhile, in Barbados, guests of Godings Beach House gain access to 1.2 acres of private gardens, a 25m infinity pool with a view of the sea, a home gym and the latest water sports kit for their enjoyment. From sunrise yoga sessions to stand-up paddle boarding, there are a whole host of activities available to guests.
