Jetting off for ski season soon? Before you go, make sure to pay a visit to Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross, where Beyond Retro and Boutique by Shelter have teamed up to launch a retro skiwear pop-up: House of Ski.

House of Ski: The Vintage Skiwear Pop-Up Coming To London This January
An exciting new wintery pop-up comes to the capital this January, nestled in Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross. The pop-up, titled ‘House of Ski’, has been launched by vintage heavyweights Beyond Retro and Boutique by Shelter.
Both shops will be transformed with new ski edits for the season, with Beyond Retro offering visitors over 350 pieces of retro skiwear in a curated space inspired by an alpine chalet and, just across the viaduct, Boutique by Shelter will be hosting a mini skiwear showcase. From 1940s glam to 90s sportswear, the skiwear in store will span the likes of knits, ski suits, fluoro accessories and eyewear.

‘We are beyond excited to be working with Kings Cross to showcase our amazing range of retro ski-wear pieces,’ said Kate Peters, MD at Beyond Retro. ‘We have hundreds of unique garments from every decade, all sustainably sourced and handpicked by our vintage experts.’
‘Vintage ski wear is where it’s at this year,’ added Tracey Morrison, head of retail at Boutique by Shelter. ‘Classic styles that stand out from the crowd at prices that won’t break the bank. We’ve pulled together some great classic pieces from our network of London boutiques and will be releasing them into our Coal Drops Yard Boutique, during this amazing pop up.’
The two brands have enlisted the help of 2022 Sewing Bee winner and vintage-lover Annie Phillips (otherwise known as Made by Annie), to curate an edit of looks for the slopes. She looked to Beyond Retro’s archives and boutiques for inspiration, and featured ‘unique pieces previously styled by skiers of a bygone era, from Mont Tremblant to the Matterhorn’. All of the edits shown below will be available to purchase from the House of Ski pop-up.
Speaking on the pop-up, Annie commented: ‘The slopes have always been a runway for people to show off their style, and what better way to kit yourself out for the 2023 season than taking inspiration from style icons of the past, from Princess Diana to Grace Kelly? I am over the moon to team up with King’s Cross, one of my all-time favourite hangouts, and a total bonus to work with my ‘go-tos’ for vintage to curate this edit of must have looks for the ski season. I have delved into the treasure trove of vintage finds – and 100 percent can confirm that when it comes to skiwear this season, sustainable style is the way forward.’
