The Curriculum
Highfield and Brookham provides a coherent academic journey right the way from nursery through to year eight. Children experience a dynamic, seamless and rich education based on experience and robust research delivered by passionate teachers in an inspirational setting. The school believes in the importance of developing essential skills that support children socially, increase their learning outcomes and enhance their career opportunities. Eight essential skills are taught with the same rigour as academic subject: listening, speaking, creativity, problem solving, staying positive, aiming high, leadership, and teamwork.
Sport & The Arts
Highfield and Brookham recognises the importance of sport and the arts as an integral part of education that supports numeracy and literacy and helps the development of crucial skills for the future. Children are encouraged to find their passion; sport is an integral part of our school life, and drama productions are staged for every year group. In music, children enjoy weekly music lessons and plenty of opportunities to perform in a variety of weekly, termly and annual concerts for covering different music genres and themes. The well-equipped art studio is an encouraging and inspirational environment, and the DT studio is a hive of creativity as the children explore, share ideas and work on designs.
Pastoral Care
The children’s wellbeing is at the centre of everything at the school, and keeping children safe and ensuring they are happy is the staff’s biggest priority. Highfield and Brookham prides itself on its exceptional pastoral care, its integral learning support department and its first-class medical centre. These three elements are fundamental for ensuring children are truly happy at school.
Exit Destinations
Forty-five scholarships have been awarded in the last three years to a diverse range of senior schools – including Marlborough, Wellington, Cranleigh and Charterhouse – and range from academic and art to sport and music.
