The Curriculum
Sport & The Arts
The school’s ethos is ‘sport for all’. Whatever the sporting level, children are coached and encouraged to develop a love for sport that will last a lifetime. Sports include rugby, football, cricket, hockey, basketball, swimming, fitness, athletics, HIIT, cross-country and tennis. Performing arts is also an integral and highly valued part of school life. There is a large public performance every year, and over 100 boys receive weekly LAMDA tuition. Netball will be introduced in 2027.
Pastoral Care
Nurturing, supporting and encouraging all children to feel happy, secure and confident is of paramount importance to every member of The Beacon’s community. The pastoral care team, comprising of class teachers, form tutors, heads of sections, heads of houses, the senior leadership team and the in-school wellbeing coach and counsellor, meets regularly to ensure pupils’ changing needs are met.
Exit Destinations
In 2025, pupils gained scholarships to Harrow School, Marlborough College, Berkhamsted, Merchant Taylor’s, Haileybury, St Edward’s and Westbrook Hay as well as a music exhibition to Eton College.
