From London to the Cotswolds

Private members’ clubs are changing: the old boys’ club is out, and the cool social space is very much in. Whether it’s a wellness club you’re looking for, something hyper-local or perhaps just brand spanking new, London has members’ clubs in all shapes and sizes. If an uber cool swimming pool will seal the deal, we’ve got the inside scoop…

180 House, Temple
It’s all business at the front and party at the back at 180 Strand. Or should we say business downstairs (this is a co-working space, after all) and party at the top, where a glittering rooftop pool flanked by a cocktail bar makes for the coolest of after work drinks spots. This isn’t really the space for lengths and splashes, surrounded as you are by plump sofas and those all important golden hour cocktails. But it’s the perfect place for a post-work cool down when the heat wave strikes…

Ten Trinity Square Club, Tower Hill
If you’re seeking a members’ club with a wellness oasis, this is it. With a Ten Trinity Square membership, you’ll have unlimited access to The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel London, with its gorgeous swimming pool. You’ll also access a calendar of noteworthy speakers and private events, but the pool is the place to be to relax, and revive. Alongside it, enjoy the vitality pool, steam and sauna rooms and a menu of luxurious treatments.

White City House
Go West in the open air… White City House’s rooftop swimming pool is a hotspot, sitting atop the former BBC Television Centre and home to playful paintwork and brightly coloured loungers. If you think you’re being crafty heading here instead of Soho House’s other spots when the sun strikes, think again: it gets super busy here, too. There’s lots more to enjoy while you’re here, though, including an indoor pool, steam room, sauna, hammam, huge gym and daily fitness classes, as well as restaurants, bars and bedrooms if you can’t face crawling home.
Address: 2 Television Centre, 101 Wood Lane, London W12 7FR
Ned’s Club, City
This is the ultimate City swimming spot for in-the-know Londoners. The Ned is a very exclusive members’ club boasting an uber cool vibe and a 20 metre swimming pool. Here you’ll also find a delightful restaurant and suntrap terrace, perfect for sundowner cocktails, perfect for post-paddle refuelling. Views take in the iconic dome of St Paul’s Cathedral as well as the City’s skyscrapers – the perfect blend of old and new.

Shoreditch House
If one thing isn’t quite clear yet, Soho House loves a rooftop swimming pool. Here’s their third London offering: over in Shoreditch, it’s all red and white striped loungers circling the blue tiled 16 metre swimming pool, which is the cherry on top of this converted warehouse (this is East London, after all). Heated and open year round, it’s perfect for a (temperate) cool off.

Lansdowne Club, Mayfair
If an indoor swimming pool is more your speed, the Lansdowne Club is home to a whopper: a 75 ft, art deco whopper, to be precise. There’s also state-of-the-art fitness facilities, squash courts and a fencing salle d’armes, plus frequent golf and pigeon shooting excursions.

Soho Farmhouse, Cotswolds
Moving away from London, we’re sure you’ve seen this one on Instagram. (And failing that, the notorious queue…) When the sun comes out to play in the city, Soho House members flee in droves to the brand’s countryside arm, Soho Farmhouse. Expect an experience akin to a retreat: there’s 100 acres of Oxfordshire countryside to play with, as well as a spa, gym, and that all important swimming pool. The latter is a 135 ft indoor-outdoor barn haven heated to 35˚C year-round.
