The Curriculum
A well-rounded curriculum that blends both breadth and depth, where pupils work ahead of the age-related expectations. Charterhouse Square’s approach to education extends beyond the fundamentals of literacy and numeracy, ensuring that pupils receive a holistic and enriching learning experience. This includes engaging lessons in science, history, geography, art and PSHE. Pupils also benefit from specialist teaching in Spanish, music and drama.
Games & The Arts
Sports provision is a key part of the curriculum, with children enjoying the benefits of the excellent amenities on the school’s doorstep. Pupils play around three times as much as their counterparts at state primaries, enjoying up to four hours of PE and sport each week. Charterhouse Square believes that creativity is at the core of individuality, which is why creative arts play a key role in the curriculum and are further supported through cocurricular activities and clubs. Throughout the school day, pupils actively engage in various creative activities such as art, drama, dance, and school music groups. They also have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of peripatetic music lessons.
Pastoral Care
Charterhouse Square School is determined to help every child develop courage, honesty, kindness and confidence. Staff believe these values are essential for success in today’s competitive world and pride themselves on providing an exceptional pastoral care offering, prioritising a strong sense of community among staff and pupils and fostering a true sense of family.
Recent Scholarships
Children secure places at some of the most prestigious schools in the capital, with many winning scholarships and exhibitions.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
I passionately believe that in order for children to achieve their true potential, they have to be happy and feel safe, supported and encouraged. This belief drives every decision that we make – the children are at the heart of all that we do. We have very high aspirations for our children, and I believe that helping them to build high levels of confidence is the key to achieving this. A child who is confident enough to take a risk, accept a challenge and come out of their comfort zone is the child who will thrive and flourish in school and indeed in life.
Outstanding Characteristics
Charterhouse Square School is unlike any other, with a spirit all of its own. Located in the heart of London, pupils thrive in an environment surrounded by endless opportunities. Academic excellence is seamlessly combined with an equal focus on providing a safe and nurturing environment that serves as a home away from home — where teachers and pupils are on a first name basis and students do not wear uniforms, allowing every child to be themselves.
