Our favourite football manager is making a return to south west London

Ted Lasso had quite an intense and surprising impact on British football, namely by introducing a swathe of Americans to the sport. (Were actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney inspired by the series to purchase Wrexham A.F.C.? We will never know for sure…) And now, a visit to London’s quaint Richmond always involves bumping into a few Ted Lasso fans seeking to visit their favourite filming locations from the show. With season 3 concluding in 2023, there’s just one question on our lips: will there be a Ted Lasso season 4? The stars seem to have finally aligned…

Ted Lasso Season 4: Plot, Cast, Release Date & More
Despite the original intention being a three season show, Ted Lasso season 4 is officially on its way. Apple TV has revealed filming is underway in Kansas City, after a shock renewal in March 2025 and Jason Sudeikis tied to the reprise. Take a look at the teaser below.
Back in May 2023, around the time the finale aired neatly tying up everyone’s storylines, Sudeikis commented: ‘This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell. The fact that folks will want more and are curious […] is flattering.’
And that flattery has been taken to heart by the cast as well as the hit show’s production team: Sudeikis will be joined by original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift for Ted Lasso season 4.
The news follows the media storm that ensued when star Nick Mohammed (who plays Nate Shelley) used some carefully placed quotation marks and an evocative emoji to promote the Ted Lasso DVD box set. ‘“The Complete Series”,’ he wrote in May 2024, using quotation marks and a winky face emoji to hint all is not as it seems. And now we know Ted Lasso isn’t ‘complete’, after all.

What Will Happen?
The Ted Lasso season 3 finale saw Ted (Sudeikis) return to the US to be closer to his son (and to coach his soccer team). Back in Richmond, Roy Kent (Goldstein) fills Ted’s shoes as the new head coach of Richmond AFC.
According to Apple TV, however, Ted will return to Richmond to face a new challenge: coaching a second division women’s football team. Over the course of the season, Ted and his team ‘learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would,’ Apple TV summarises.
So no earnestness lost as we move to a new season. We’re also preparing for some sharp wit and maybe even some romance: Jack Burditt (boasting credits across Nobody Wants This, Modern Family and 30 Rock) is executive producing the series with creator and star Sudeikis.
