Bake Off is back – and we can’t hide our excitement. Now in its sixteenth series, The Great British Bake Off (aka The Great British Baking Show across the Atlantic) returns every autumn, bringing some summery baking goodness to our gloomier evenings. The first series aired in August 2010 on the BBC but, after a headline-making deal in 2017, it has aired on Channel 4 in recent years. So, fancy a catch up? Here’s exactly where you can watch every season of Bake Off since the show began.

Where To Stream The Great British Bake Off

All episodes of The Great British Bake Off since series 8 are available to stream for free on Channel 4. That’s seven series of 10 episodes each, all the way up to series 14.

Whether you have never tuned in before or you have watched every episode and fancy a trip down memory lane, you can expect to see everything from stolen ingredients to shattering glass jars as temperatures in the Bake Off tent reach boiling point. You will also get to relive our familiar faces’ journeys to the Bake Off crown, with plenty of previous winners going on to pursue lucrative careers in baking and television, from TV personalities Candice Brown and Nadiya Hussain to our most recent winner Georgie Grasso.

If you would like a quicker jaunt down memory lane, check out our guide to Bake Off‘s most memorable moments ever.

From 2 September, new episodes will land weekly as series 16 gets underway. With a whole fresh batch of 12 new bakers, the series, as always, opens with Cake Week with the 12 bakers tasked to rustle up a Swiss roll in the Signature Challenge, fondant fancies in the Technical, and a landscape cake in the Showstopper Challenge. Here’s what to know before you tune in.

It is not only in autumn that we are treated to Bake Off: it’s a year-round franchise. On Channel 4, you can tune into all of the Festive Specials, Junior Bake Off, Bake Off: The Professionals and the charity celebrity episodes for Stand Up 2 Cancer.

Hopping across the pond, in the US Bake Off is known as The Great British Baking Show and it is available to stream on Netflix. Here, series are called ‘Collections’ and series 16 – which begins on 2 September in the UK – will land on Friday 5 September as part of Collection 13, with new episodes landing every Friday.

And if the name difference has you confused, here’s the reasoning: Bake Off is called The Great British Baking Show in the US to avoid any legal shenanigans with American baking company Pillsbury, which owns the trademark to the term ‘Bake Off’ thanks to their baking competition, the Pillsbury Bake Off, held annually since 1949.

As for the numbers, Netflix has the US rights to stream The Great British Baking Show since it has been owned by Channel 4, who took over the franchise from the BBC in 2017. This means eight seasons (or ‘Collections’) of The Great British Baking Show are available to stream on Netflix, with Collection 13 about to premiere. Before Channel 4 took over, the BBC aired seven seasons of Bake Off – so we are not really sure why Netflix’s first season is called ‘Collection 5’ rather than ‘Collection 8’. That’s why we are on series 15 in the UK while the US is on Collection 13.
