Where To Celebrate Day Of The Dead In London For 2026

The capital's best menus and celebrations for Día de los Muertos
In Mexico, Day of the Dead is one of the biggest celebrations on the calendar. Known there as Día de los Muertos, the event falls annually on 2 November, following Halloween on 31 October and All Saints Day on 1 November. The ancient tradition is all about celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed away, but it’s not a gloomy day: colourful parties and parades take place across Mexico. You don’t have to catch a flight to get involved, though. Many London restaurants get involved by introducing special Day of the Dead menus and hosting themed nights; we’ve picked out the best of the bunch for 2026.
Where To Celebrate Day Of The Dead In London
Rocola, Hackney
Kicking off the Día de los Muertos celebrations early is Hackney restaurant and bar Rocola, whose rotating kitchen invites guest chefs and restauranteurs to set up shop for short-term residencies. And for the next two weeks, in the run up to the Day of the Dead, they’re bringing a taste of Mexico with La Rosa. Head chef Chandler Russell has cut his teeth in the likes of Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant KOL in Marylebone, and for Rocola, Russell has created a menu inspired by the country’s street food. Think traditional flavours and regional ingredients: adobo chicken quesadillas and skirt steak with roasted pineapple and grilled Manchego.
