Eat your way around New York like Carrie Bradshaw

Sex and the City was always a love letter to New York’s restaurant scene, but decades on, many of the famous 90s haunts featured in the show have closed their doors. No matter: now we have reboot And Just Like That, which sees Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte – plus newbies including Seema and Nya – gallivanting around a new collection of eateries. Now in their ‘50s, they might not be partying at Buddakan anymore, but there are still cameos from a string of voguish hotspots. Here, we highlight eight New York restaurants featured in And Just Like That across seasons one, two and three (currently mid-way through streaming on NOW) which you can visit in real life.
New York Restaurants Which Appear In And Just Like That
Restaurant Daniel
In the first season, we see Seema and Zed enjoying a meal at one of New York’s most prestigious restaurants, Daniel. Helmed by the eponymous Daniel Boulud, the Upper East Side spot has been around since 1993, scooping up numerous accolades along the way including a Michelin star. Dinner might not have gone so well for Seema – Zed’s wife turns up halfway through the date – but Daniel is well worth a visit for a special occasion, serving top-class French cuisine amid an elegant dining room.

La Mercerie
Carrie meets Aiden’s ex-wife for coffee at La Mercerie, a French bistro located in Soho’s Roman and Williams Guild. This chic spot is inspired by Parisian cafes, known for its elevated take on crepes – think salmon, leek and potato, and egg, ham and Comté – alongside sharing platters of oysters and charcuterie. The marble-topped Guild Bar, meanwhile, mixes up a stellar martini.

The Bar at Baccarat Hotel
The Baccarat Hotel’s bar is one of New York’s glitziest spots. Seema takes Carrie and Nya here for a drink, dubbing it ‘the place to meet single men’ – but this certainly isn’t the only reason to visit. With its crystal chandeliers, merlot-coloured walls and checkerboard flooring, the bar is an interior lover’s dream (but be prepared to pay at least $33 for one of its cocktails). Alongside the drinks, it offers suitably decadent plates of truffle fries, tuna tartare and caviar.

Benoit
In season two of And Just Like That, Carrie ends up going to the wrong location for her Valentine’s Day date with Aidan. She’s left waiting at Italian restaurant Corso – but the pair eventually end up reuniting at Benoit, Alain Ducasse’s French bistro situated on West 55th Street. With its candlelit tables and red velvet booth seating, it’s the perfect romantic spot for their meeting.

Tatiana
In season three, Seema heads to Afro-Caribbean restaurant Tatiana in the Lincoln Center for what she thinks is a date arranged by her co-worker. It turns out she’s actually meeting matchmaker Sydney, who orders for Seema: ‘salmon tartare, wasabi vinaigrette on the side, extra avocado, and hold the scallions’. While this isn’t actually on the menu, diners can enjoy impressive fare inspired by head chef Kwame Onwuachi’s West African heritage, including signature dishes like egusi dumplings and braised oxtail.

Rosa Mexicano
In episode two of season three, titled ‘Outlook Good’, a large part of the action takes place in a Mexican restaurant, which is a mini-chain called Rosa Mexican in the Upper West Side. Carrie, Miranda and Seema visit for dinner, and Miranda ends up falling for the server who mixes them up some tableside guacamole. It later transpires that the feeling isn’t reciprocated. Nonetheless, the restaurant is worth a visit if you’re looking for Mexican food amid a fun setting – although this Lincoln Square location is soon relocating to a new branch inside the Empire Hotel.

Bottino
Since opening in 1997, Bottino has been one of West Chelsea’s best-loved spots, offering Tuscan fare amid a pretty garden setting. Seema goes here on a date in season three, eating a plate of pasta and drinking red wine (though she’s not convinced by the ‘tired’ tiramisu, or her dating partner). In real life, the menu includes starters of arancini and Stracciatella with grilled peaches, followed by mains of cacio e pepe, seared salmon with summer zucchini, and porcini-rubbed NY strip steak.

Red Rooster
In episode one of season three, Lisa throws her husband Herbert a last-minute cocktail party at Red Rooster, a restaurant in Harlem led by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson. There’s plenty of fried chicken and sandwiches on offer, and Lisa notes that ‘the fritters are no joke’. Those who visit today can enjoy comfort food dishes like cheesy steak sandwiches, lobster rolls and smash burgers, followed by desserts of banana pudding and apple pie.
