How does one transform into a superhero? Unfortunately for the stars who sign-up to portray superhuman strength on screen, there are no strange sci-fi chemicals or radioactive insect bites on-hand to help – only raw grit, determination, and many sweaty sessions in the gym. From Hugh Jackman’s bristling Wolverine and Chris Hemsworth’s godly Thor, there’s been some pretty impressive transformations over the years, and perhaps none more so than the ultra-buff bod of Chris Evans’s Captain America.

But how did Evans transform himself into the all-American hero? Under the tutelage of celebrity trainer Simon Waterson, Evans underwent a brutal three-month training programme to achieve the Captain America physique – focusing on heavy, low-rep compound lifts and a strict, high-calorie diet formed of clean proteins and carbs. As for where he trained, the bulk of the lifting occurred in his very own guest wing gym, which he personally outfitted as a Captain America training space free from commute and distractions. And now, the very same LA home where Chris Evans transformed into the Marvel hero is for sale with Christies Real Estate for $6.395m.

As for why he decided to sell, listing agency Scott Moore of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California told People last year: ‘After over a decade of amazing memories in his LA home, Chris is planning to move to the East Coast to be closer to family.’

Boston, Massachusetts

Returning to Chris Evans’s home town in Massachusetts, he and his wife Alba Baptista built a home in the Boston burbs around September 2023. Now their primary residence, the couple welcomed their daughter Alma Grace Baptista Evans there in October 2025. 

Lisbon, Portugal

When they’re not in the states, the stars are said to spend time in a Portuguese holiday home that they purchased in 2024. Alba, whom Evans married in 2023, is originally from Portugal, and so the stars frequently return to the region where she grew up.
