A powerful music mogul, a ransom plot, and a life or death dilemma. Set on the mean streets of New York City, Spike Lee’s new thriller Highest 2 Lowest is a high-stakes adventure. Created by Apple TV and now in US cinemas thanks to A24, the film centres on David King (Denzel Washington), who leads a life of luxury and lords over Brooklyn from his stunning penthouse, equipped with views of Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan and New York Harbor.

And while the film is fictional – a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low (1963) for any movie buffs – this glitzy apartment is very real. Known as Penthouse B, the property spans the entire 32nd floor of Olympia DUMBO, a sail-shaped tower which overlooks New York City’s East River from the heart of the historic Dumbo district.

The Bridge level, meanwhile, offers a 60 ft indoor lap pool, 58 ft outdoor pool and hot tub, juice bar, BBQ areas, children’s playground and waterpark, plus a full size tennis court overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge. Inside The Property

Arriving via elevator to a private landing, the formal foyer and gallery lead to the sun filled living and dining areas. The kitchen is separated from the main living room and features an island inlaid with Fior di Bosco stone slab and chamfered edges, as well as raked maple cabinetry paired with satin nickel hardware and Gaggenau appliances. A linen closet, laundry room and powder room – including a pedestal vanity in honed African St. Laurent stone – are also discreetly located off the main hallway.

The fifth-bedroom-slash-den is located near the open living area to provide an additional relaxation space, while the primary suite (which faces the Manhattan Bridge) features double walk-in closets and a bathroom. Each of the additional three bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms, boasting mosaic flooring, undermount tubs with brushed nickel fixtures, custom vanities in maple as well as rounded medicine cabinets. A private study located directly off the foyer completes the design.

A reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller High and Low played out on the mean streets of modern day New York City, Spike Lee’s latest thriller premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May earlier this year. Starring rappers A$AP Rocky and Ice Spice, alongside Jeffrey White and Ilfenesh Hadera, the film is already out in the US, and will land in UK cinemas on 22 August before arriving on Apple TV in September.
