What Is Bridget Jones 4 About?

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is based on the latest novel in Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones series, which was published in 2013. Taking place four years after the previous film (Bridget Jones’s Baby), the new film will reunite us with a 51 year-old Bridget, now a widow raising her two small children following the untimely death of her husband Mark Darcy (Colin Firth’s character in the earlier movies).

While it’s been revealed that Fielding herself penned the screenplay, not much has been confirmed about the plot of the film so far. However, we can assume that it will at least partly reflect the book, which sees Bridget navigating life in her fifties, juggling both single motherhood and modern dating.

Who Will Star?

Renée Zellweger will reprise her role as Bridget, Hugh Grant will return as the dashing Daniel Cleaver, and Emma Thompson is set to reappear as Bridget’s doctor. The cast will also include Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Martian, 12 Years A Slave) and Leo Woodall (One Day, The White Lotus), who has been rumoured to be playing Bridget’s younger love interest.

Release Date

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is set to be released on Valentine’s Day 2025 in the US – but we don’t have a UK date for now. Check back for updates.
