Gloucestershire's most dazzling event spaces

Kate Moss first made Cotswolds weddings cool back in 2011, after she tied the knot to guitarist Jamie Hince in the village of Southrop. Since then, Gloucestershire has become a hotspot for high-profile nuptials, with everyone from actor Felicity Jones to singers Rochelle and Marvin Humes saying ‘I do’ amid its countryside venues. And most recently, Apple heiress Eve Jobs got married at one of the area’s most exclusive spots, five-star members’ club Estelle Manor

But you don’t have to be an A-lister to bring your dream Cotswolds wedding to life. The area is home to endless wedding venues, not just grand castles but also rustic barns, boutique inns and low-key farms which epitomise the quintessential English country wedding, and we’ve picked out the very best. If your Pinterest board is all pretty gardens, wildflower meadows, thatched cottages and flower-bedecked marquees, look no further.

Where To Get Married In The Cotswolds

Euridge Manor

Perched on the edge of Castle Combe, this elegant country estate is a popular spot for supplier shoots, which is a testament to its fairytale beauty. If wow-factor photos are important to you, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to backdrops: the grounds are filled with manicured topiary, fountains and grand castle walls – with a central boathouse overlooking the lake, where you can host an intimate ceremony. If you’ve got a higher number of guests, there are plenty of options for that too, including the Instagram-famous castle ruins, where couples can pose under the crystal chandelier set beneath an archway. During the summer, the Orangery is a glorious setting for an outdoor dinner, set beneath the palm trees, while in the winter The Ballroom feels suitably romantic and cosy. You’ll have exclusive use of the estate, with space for up to 32 guests.

Tables set up at Kin House wedding venue

Kin House

One of the Cotswolds’ newer wedding venues is Kin House in Kington Langley, a Georgian manor which was refurbished into an exclusive-use hotel and party pad in 2022. The project was helmed by design studio Barlow & Barlow, which is known for its bold use of colour and prints: think chequerboard floors and freestanding bathtubs wrapped in Fermoie print. There are 12 bedrooms for you and your guests to stay in, and numerous different options for where to host your ceremony – walk down the aisle in the light-filled Garden House, wed al fresco in the walled garden, or host a cosy winter wedding by the fireplace in the Hearth Room. Afterwards, sip fizz on the lawn before sitting down to a family-style feast, then party the night away in Kilvert Hall, which has a stage area for live music plus its own bar and dancefloor. Keen to plan some activities around the wedding weekend? The team can help arrange anything that takes your fancy, whether that’s morning yoga to calm the nerves or a game of croquet in the grounds.

Lapstone Barn wedding ceremony venue

Lapstone Barn

If you want that classic Cotswolds barn aesthetic, polished yet rustic at the same time, Lapstone Barn is sure to fit the quota. Housed in a honey-hued, converted barn set amid sprawling fields, the venue feels rural and private, yet it’s just a few minutes’ drive away from Chipping Campden, a pretty village filled with charming cottages, cafes and shops. The ceremony can take place either in the Stone Barn, with its timber beams and large arched doors filling the space with natural light, or in the flower-bedecked courtyard garden. Food is a real highlight here: choose from generous sharing dinners, BBQ meals or traditional three-course feasts, made using local Cotswolds produce. Come evening time, the barn transforms into a dancefloor – with the option to add a glittering disco ball for an extra dose of dazzle. There’s on-site accommodation too, including a farmhouse which makes the perfect backdrop for photographs.

Guest numbers: Up to 200

Cripps Barn

Founded in 1990, this barn venue has many years of experience in hosting weddings, and is the epitome of rustic-chic Cotswolds, with its flagstone floors and towering beams. Located near Bibury, this is a particularly good option for winter weddings: ceremonies take place beneath a large wheel of greenery beside a stone fireplace, while the grounds are filled with fire pits where guests can warm up and toast marshmallows as the sun sets. Forget the traditional starter, main, dessert format: here it’s all about sizzling BBQ fare, rotisserie chicken and wood-fired pizzas, served on large feasting tables. If there’s no space here on the date you’re after, the group has a number of similar sister venues nearby including Stone Barn and The Tithe Barn.

Cornwell Manor, a house in the distance

Cornwell Manor

If you’ve got cash to splash, Cornwell Manor is one of the most luxurious wedding venues in the Cotswolds. The 2,000 acre estate – situated just down the road from Clarksonville, AKA Chipping Norton – wins on privacy, available to hire out for a whole weekend of celebrations. You’ll have full run of the estate for three nights, which is home to a 12-bedroom house surrounded by exquisite gardens and lakes, a heated pool (perfect for day two parties) and even a Norman church. There’s no cookie cutter feel: here, you can personalise your day just how you want it, whether that’s a small ceremony beside the Italianate fountain followed by a marquee wedding breakfast, or a more intimate event in the walled garden. Cornwell Manor is loved by photographers too, with endless opportunities for romantic snaps, from topiary walks (which featured on Christmas classic The Holiday) to croquet lawns and orchards.
