Masterpiece goes digital for the second year running

Every June, creatives, collectors and enthusiasts from all over the world flock to the Royal Hospital Chelsea for the annual Masterpiece London fair, home to the finest works of art, design, furniture and jewellery dating from antiquity to the present day. However, as Covid-19 restrictions are still in place, the event will be taking place online again this year.

The digital platform aims to provide the same elevated experience for its attendees as the normal fair. Masterpiece Online will offer a four-day long programme of events and activities that will allow art lovers to connect with both the 120 exhibitors and multitude of experts present, and to encourage viewers not just to view and buy works of art, but to join the conversation, too.

From 24 June (23 June for those with preview access) to 27 June, visitors to Masterpiece Online will be able to view works for sale on exhibitors’ profiles, as well as video introductions from dealers, gallerists and designers. The platform has also partnered with art fans’ favourite site for discovering new works, Artsy, which will host the fair’s online viewing room, allowing new collectors to connect with exhibitors.

Visitors will also be able to book private views with experts, who will guide them through the platform’s immersive digital rooms. What’s more, art lovers will be able to get ringside seats at a series of online panel discussions throughout Masterpiece Online, with topics being discussed including next generation collecting and the narrative of ceramics.

With so many exhibitors it’s hard to know where to start. As a helping hand to get you started, we’ve selected our top picks from Masterpiece Online. Happy browsing.
