A brand new psychological thriller is coming to ITVX, led by BAFTA-nominated actor Jasmine Jobson, who you might know as Jaq in Netflix’s Top Boy reboot. In Platform 7, Jobson is excited ‘to show audiences a completely different side to what I can do on screen with this character’. Here’s everything we know so far about the limited series.

Platform 7: Everything We Know About ITV’s New Psychological Thriller

With only four hour-long episodes, we’re expecting to race through this gripping thriller, which will premiere on ITVX later this year before appearing on ITV1 a few months later. Based on Louise Doughty’s best-selling novel of the same name, it’s making the headlines for its lead actor, Jasmine Jobson, who is best known for her portrayal of drug-dealer Jaq in Top Boy.

‘I’m super excited to be taking the lead in this amazing psychological thriller,’ Jobson told ITV. ‘I’m also thrilled that I get to show audiences a completely different side to what I can do on screen with this character.’

Chris Carey, Executive Producer and Managing Director of Dancing Ledge Productions, the team behind the series, added: ‘We are so excited that BAFTA nominated Jasmine Jobson – one of the most brilliant acting talents to emerge in the last few years – is our lead in Platform 7. Powerhouse screenwriter Paula Milne’s brilliant scripts, based on Louise Doughty’s best-selling novel, have also attracted a stunning supporting cast alongside Jasmine. […] This combination, along with our superb creative team behind the camera, promises to deliver a properly compelling story that will delight and surprise audiences on ITVX later this year.’

What Is Platform 7 About?

After witnessing a cataclysmic event on the seventh platform of a railway station, protagonist Lisa finds her own fragmented memory jogged, joining the dots between her own life and the event she just witnessed.

Sounds intense. Plus, we’re told there’s a supernatural element: ghosts. This, set against a contemporary, realistic backdrop, is sure to create a chilling drama. But don’t expect white-sheet cliches. Paula Milne, who adapted Louise Doughty’s novel for the screen, says: ‘This is no traditional “spooky” ghost story. It’s the tale of a ghost on a quest to discover who she was and the events that led to her untimely death. Her story is a celebration of indignation versus passivity and truth versus lies. While writing it from Louise Doughty’s astute and emotionally intelligent novel, I began to feel she’s the ghost in all of us; the unseen part of us when we find ourselves reflecting on the wisdom of our past decisions. Sometimes with regret, occasionally with rancour but more often with the complicated relish of what it means to be human.’
