The TV personality turned farming entrepreneur has a new venture on the cards

As if a farm, shop and (short-lived) restaurant wasn’t enough, Jeremy Clarkson has set his sights on yet another Cotswolds project – and this time, it’s a pub.

Is Jeremy Clarkson Opening A Pub?

Jeremy Clarkson is taking on a local pub near Diddly Squat Farm, where he will continue to champion British farming and produce. After months of rumours, the Clarkson’s Farm star has confirmed he paid ‘less than £1 million’ for The Windmill, a pub housed in a 15th century barn near Burford in Oxfordshire, with views of the rolling countryside. Described by its previous owners as a venue and restaurant, The Windmill announced it was under ‘new ownership’ as of 4 June 2024.

Although the venue hasn’t officially launched yet, we got a peek inside after Clarkson opened the pub temporarily for the Euros final. It’s a traditional Cotswolds-style pub with cobblestone walls, which will serve locally sourced food and Hawkstone beer.

The Parking Dilemma

As well as the task of cleaning up the pub’s appearance, Clarkson will also face concerns over traffic and parking. Local villagers have expressed their worry about the new pub potentially causing a surge in traffic, as it is currently only accessible by car.

The site is also currently being reviewed for a licensing application that would enable a capacity of 4,000 people at the site, says Councillor Len Wilkins. ‘You can only get there by car,’ he said. ‘The car park would have been a nightmare. You could be looking at 1,000 cars on the Fosse just trying to get there. There is also concern about the car park at the Coach and Horses not being big enough.’

Where Is The Pub?

Clarkson’s new pub is The Windmill in Burford. The address is Asthall Manor, Asthall, Burford OX18 4HW.

When Will The Pub Open?

We haven’t yet had a timeline, however Clarkson said in his column for The Sun that it might not be open for guests until 2025.
