Revealed: the top global restaurants

Prestigious Parisian restaurant guide La Liste has just named its 2025 list, which highlights the very best restaurants in the world. It was another strong year for the UK, with 75 eateries making the cut – and one claiming the top spot.

Which UK Restaurants Made La Liste 2025?

Nine spots came in joint first place this year, including Lake District restaurant L’Enclume – which also made it to number one in last year’s list. For 2025, other winners included Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl in Switzerland, Guy Savoy in France, and Matsukawa in Japan.

La Liste was founded in 2015, and has since grown to cover 195 countries all around the world. Unlike awards like Michelin stars, which are given by a panel of judges, the guide is curated using an algorithm. It works like this: all reviews a restaurant has received from guidebooks and publications are entered into a database, then converted into a score out of 100. These are then combined with online diner comments and the thoughts of thousands of chefs to reach a final score. This year, the nine winning restaurants all received an impressive 99.5 score (100 being the maximum).

L'Enclume

L’Enclume

L’Enclume is no stranger to awards: it has the coveted three Michelin star status, and regularly tops lists of the world’s finest restaurants. The flagship of chef Simon Rogan, the eatery was a pioneer in the farm-to-table movement, focusing on hyper-seasonal, local produce – much of which is grown at Rogan’s farm a few miles away.

‘Once more I’m honoured that L’Enclume has been recognised as the top British restaurant in La Liste for the second consecutive year,’ said Rogan. ‘Being listed alongside restaurants that we admire is an immense privilege and as ever is a testament to the hard work, creativity and total dedication of every member of the team, who are the driving force behind all that we do.’

A total of 1,000 restaurants were named in La Liste 2025. Other UK restaurants to feature include Ynyshir in Wales (96), Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons in Oxford (95) and Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck in Bray (93.5). The top ranking spot in London was Core by Clare Smyth in Notting Hill, which received an impressive score of 97.50, followed by The Ritz, which got 97.
