Who secured a spot on the annual culinary ranking?

The National Restaurant Awards have been announced for 2025, with The Ritz securing the top spot for the first time in its 100-year history.
National Restaurant Awards 2025: Winners Announced
Since opening its doors in 1906, The Ritz has had a reputation as one of London’s most prestigious hotels. At the centre lies its dining room: a picture of gilded glamour with its sparkling chandeliers and grand marble columns – arriving feels like stepping back in time to a bygone era. And although it has long been lauded for its haute cuisine offering and impeccable service, this is the first time the restaurant has been named the UK’s best.
The eatery has been helmed by executive chef John Williams since 2004, who helped secure a Michelin in 2016 – followed by a second earlier this year. It focuses on seasonal fine dining, made using the finest British produce, including organic beef from the Cornish moors, Lake District lamb and lobsters from South West Scotland. It’s also famous for being one of the only places in London where men must wear a jacket and tie.

Moor Hall
In second place for 2025 is Moor Hall, the esteemed three Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms in Yorkshire. Here head chef Mark Birchall uses the bountiful countryside as his inspiration, creating locally sourced dishes amid a beautifully restored 16th-century house.
London fared particularly well on this year’s list. In third place is The Ledbury in Notting Hill, which has remained one of London’s most in-demand restaurants since being founded by Australian chef Brett Graham in 2005. Other names to make the top 10 include Trinity, the Michelin-starred restaurant tucked away in Clapham Old Town, French bistro Bouchon Racine, and newcomer OMA, which has soared to fame since arriving in Borough Market in 2024.
Many of the city’s cult favourites featured this year too, including Soho gastropub The Devonshire, and Tomos Parry’s Mountain.

Osip
Outside of London, Somerset’s farm-to-table restaurant Osip – which recently opened bedrooms – came in at number eight, followed by rural Welsh hotspot Ynyshir. And The Unruly Pig in Suffolk, previously named the UK’s best gastropub, came in at number 28 (here’s what we thought when we tried it).
