The NFL star is launching 1587 Prime in Kansas City
Hot off the heels of Taylor Swift’s album announcement, her boyfriend Travis Kelce has some exciting news of his own. The American footballer has revealed the opening date for his new restaurant, a steakhouse in Kansas City called 1587 Prime which he’s launching alongside fellow Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes.
1587 Prime Will Open This September
Kelce and Mahomes revealed the news via an Instagram post, captioned: ‘Precision in every detail. Power in every bite. 1587 Prime opens Wednesday, September 17. Beginning Wednesday, August 20 at 12pm CST, you can reserve your table for opening night and beyond. Be among the first to experience Kansas City’s newest steakhouse.’
In the video, we see the pair taste testing dishes for the menu, with Mahomes saying, ‘We wanted to bring something special for the city of Kansas City.’ Kelce adds, ‘What’s better than to break food with people over good food, good drinks and a cool vibe?’

Helmed by the Noble 33 hospitality group – which also includes Sparrow Italia in London, and Casa Madera in West Hollywood – 1587 Prime will open within the Loews Kansas City Hotel, spread across two floors and featuring numerous private dining rooms. There will be subtle nods to its founders’ football background throughout, including the name, which is a mashup of Kelce and Mahomes’ jersey numbers.
Loews Kansas City is a modern hotel located near the Kansas City Convention Center, complete with 800 rooms – many offering skyline views of the city. It’s also home to a restaurant called The Stilwell, which serves American classics, and a rooftop cocktail bar called Horsefeather Social.
What’s On The Menu?
So what’s on the menu at 1587 Prime? Earlier this year, the pair gave fans a sneak peek via another Instagram video, which showed dishes like wagyu beef, chop salad, togarashi fried chicken, shrimp in Diablo sauce and a smash burger made with Japanese A5 wagyu beef. There’s also a steak flight experience which includes a selection of premium cuts including Black Angus ribeye and a Japanese New York strip steak. The video saw the pair trying specialty butters, like bone marrow, truffle and hibiscus as well.
Who Is Travis Kelce?
The launch comes just a couple of weeks before the start of NFL season, which kicks off on 5 September 2025. Kelce is one of the most successful tight ends in the history of the NFL, winning three Super Bowls while playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.
In 2023, Kelce became known to a new audience after rumours began to swirl that he was dating Swift. After being spotted at the Eras tour, he revealed on his podcast, New Heights (which he hosts with brother Jason Kelce), that he was disappointed he didn’t meet the singer. He spoke about making her a friendship bracelet and wanting to give her his number – and of course the clip went viral. Speaking on the podcast in a recent mammoth two-hour episode, Swift said it felt like ‘he was standing outside of my apartment, holding a boom box saying, “I want to go on a date with you”‘.
She added: ‘My relatives, my cousins, were like, “Please, please, please, he’s amazing”. There were friends that were like, “He’s actually an amazing guy, he’s so great”. There was a lot of people whispering in my ear about you.’
During the episode, Swift also revealed she is soon to release a new album, The Life of a Showgirl. Alongside the title track, which features Sabrina Carpenter, it includes songs including ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, ‘Father Figure’ and ‘Elizabeth Taylor’.
