St Margaret’s School For Girls Celebrates Best Exam Results In Decades

St Margarets School for Girls Aberdeen have received their best SQA Examination results in the past two decades.

The school’s performance has always been high, but this year saw another growth making it the best results in decades.

St Margaret’s Higher pupils achieved a 9.3% pass rate (fifth year pupils). 90.1% of these were awarded at A or B level.

Pupils in fourth year had a pass rate of 98.5% (A-C) at National 5, with 93.4% grades either A or B level.

Sixth form leavers had a 93% pass rate and are moving on to exciting further education pathways.

Anna Tomlinson, Headteacher at St Margaret’s School for Girls, said: ‘This year’s results are testament to our pupils’ hard work, motivation, and, of course, to the dedication and skill of our teaching staff.’

‘Among those celebrating today is Abigail, who is about to embark upon an exciting Gap year volunteering to teach English in Costa Rica before taking up her place at the University of Strathclyde to study forensics and analytical chemistry.’

Abigail said: ‘I have had individual careers advice and support tailored to my talents and interests throughout senior school which made me aware of the world of possibilities available to me. This in turn provided opportunities to enrich my learning beyond the curriculum. Being in a girls school has meant that stereotypes about male and female careers and positions of responsibility bore no relevance to the choices I made. Every pupil at St Margaret’s is encouraged and nurtured to find their own pathway and be their own person.’
