Woodbridge School attended the Suffolk Libraries’ PAWS-itivity auction at Trinity Park, where over 40 Library Labradors were auctioned, including ‘Atticus’, which had been sponsored by the school.

The auction raised around £25,000 for Suffolk Libraries.

The sculptures were created to remind us how much positivity a library can bring, raising awareness of Suffolk Libraries as a charity that nurtures and supports communities.

‘Atticus’ is one of over 40 Labrador dog sculptures created by local artists, revealed for the first time at the Suffolk Show and exhibited in libraries across Suffolk throughout the summer.

Woodbridge School’s Labrador was designed and created by Sharon Teague, a local graphic designer and artist, and is based on the Anthony Horowitz book ‘Magpie Murders’ in which Woodbridge School features in.

Shona Norman, Head of School, said: ‘Reading starts at a young age. From the very first days at our Prep School, children are introduced to our delightful library in town, spending time there reading, simply enjoying the ‘feel’ of books and supporting our local community whenever we can. The decision to become a sponsor of one the PAWS-itivity Library Labradors was therefore an easy one, particularly given that the sculptures would not only highlight the libraries, but the work they do for people of all ages and the support they offer to communities across Suffolk.’

How will the money raised be used?

Money raised from auction will be used to help fund a range of support, including nurturing literacy and providing warm spaces for people as well as improving health and wellbeing. Suffolk Libraries also offers a place for those struggling with isolation, the cost of living and many other issues associated with the difficulties many people face every day.
