The Curriculum

King’s College regularly leads the county tables in both GCSE and A-level results and subject flexibility means courses are tailored to the strengths of each pupil. Academic societies and other activities take the curriculum beyond what is prescribed by exam boards.

Games & The Arts

The creative and performing arts, sport and music are all exceptionally strong at King’s. Excellence at the top is supported by wide involvement throughout the school.

Pastoral Care

There is a large boarding community with dedicated staff to help pupils settle into the King’s family. Each boarding house has a Houseparent, alongside a Matron and team of staff who look after the pastoral needs of the children in their care. This close-knit environment underpins the character of the school, to the benefit of boarders and day pupils alike.

University Places

Virtually all pupils go on to higher education, with the majority at their university of choice. Expert support and careers guidance are given throughout the application process.

Head Teacher’s Philosophy

A good school empowers pupils to challenge themselves intellectually and develop a lifelong love of learning for its own sake, not simply to pass an exam. We encourage pupils to embrace the rich and diverse co-curricular programme to enhance their confidence and develop their character, moral code and values.

Outstanding Characteristics

  • A Woodard School, with a strong family ethos which encourages tolerance, inclusion and all-round participation, alongside values of academic curiosity and excellence.
  • Pupils are busy, successful and happy.
