The British legend joins a long list of designer labels who have created the London hotel’s festive display
Nothing says Christmas like the launch of the Claridge’s tree. Every year, it marks the beginning of the festive season, with a whole host of top designers having been enlisted to create their own installation over the years. The chosen one for 2025? Burberry. The tree was unveiled on Monday 24 November, much to the delight of hotel guests and Londoners alike.
Claridge’s Unveils Its Burberry Christmas Tree
Every year without fail, Claridge’s taps one of the city’s brightest names in fashion to construct its legendary Christmas tree – and this year, the renowned hotel has teamed up with fellow British legacy label Burberry, employing the creative vision of the house’s Chief Creative Officer, Daniel Lee.
‘Christmas is always the most magical time of the year at Claridge’s and this festive season we are honoured and delighted to welcome long-standing friend Daniel Lee into our lobby,’ said Thomas Kochs, Claridge’s Managing Director. ‘We look forward to seeing guests and visitors immerse themselves in the creative world of Burberry.’
Reflecting on the collaboration, Lee added: ‘Claridge’s has always felt like home from the moment you walk through its doors, a true symbol of elegance and British heritage where I’ve enjoyed many special moments over the years. Being invited to design the hotel’s annual Christmas tree is a huge honour. I saw it as an opportunity to celebrate tradition and togetherness – expressing the season through vibrant colours and rich textures. Christmas is my favourite time of the year.’
Standing at an impressive 16ft, the tree takes its cues from festive decorating traditions – with bows (a Victorian symbol of unity) sitting central to the design. Made from surplus Burberry fabrics, ribbons are scattered across the branches, alongside wild foliage and thistle in honour of the house’s Scottish connections (its cashmere scarves can be traced back to manufacturers in the Highlands). These are joined by hanging brass bells – with nods to Burberry’s Equestrian Knight Design – and British-made glass baubles.
Staying true to the chessboard theme, Lee topped the tree with a gold crown topper, and left the base surrounded by oversized floor-standing chess pieces – which aptly sit on Claridge’s black-and-white chequered marble floor.

And it’s not just the tree that’s getting the Burberry treatment this Christmas. Claridge’s has also enlisted the house to weave its signature touches throughout the hotel. Burberry’s signature check can be spotted everywhere: on the scarves worn by doormen, on room key holders and even in the lift, which now boasts a plush check pattern on its walls, sofa and cushions.
Pull up to Claridge’s Bar, meanwhile, and you’ll be in for a different kind of luxury treat – a specially crafted Burberry cocktail, dubbed Winter Knight, and sweets wrapped in check cones.
And finally, there’s Claridge’s annual festive bauble. This year, the hotel’s hand-painted design features the Claridge’s Bell Boy Teddy Bear dressed in a classic Burberry trench and scarf (arguably making him the most fashionable bear in London). Sold exclusively in the Claridge’s shop, there will only be 300 up for grabs this Christmas.
The Burberry Pop-Up At Claridge’s
If you have plans to visit Claridge’s this Christmas, make sure you don’t miss out on the hotel’s brand new Burberry pop-up.
Coinciding with the grand tree unveiling, the pop-up – known as the Scarf Bar – showcases a selection of the British label’s soft accessories, with deeper insights into the heritage and craft behind the house. Expect a beautiful array of cashmere and silk twill scarves, in a variety of colours, patterns and textures. (And, of course, checks galore.)
Visitors will also be able to explore the brand’s festive gifting curation, which includes recent launches of outerwear, heritage rainwear and knitwear, as well as leather goods and bags.
Where To Find It
Claridge’s has set up its Christmas tree in the hotel’s lobby, by one of its sweeping staircases. It will be on display from Tuesday 25 November 2025 until Sunday 4 January 2026.
