This season, we’re shedding the moody hues of winter in favour of a better, brighter spring palette. Think gold and honey, apricot and champagne – and a few shades of bronde, for good measure.

1. Solar Blonde
With the days gradually getting brighter, it makes sense that hair colour trends will take inspiration from the sun itself this spring. ‘Blondes and brunettes are shifting towards “solar-infused” warmth, moving away from cool, ashy tones of past seasons,’ notes Luke Tyrrell, hair stylist and colour specialist. Think sun-kissed, with a gold, glossy hue. ‘Take solar blonde, for example – this next-gen honey-gold blonde is infused with champagne, apricot and sunlit beige hues for a natural, sun-warmed effect.’

2. Sunlit Brunette
On the brunette side of the solar trend, meanwhile, Luke tells us the focus is on ‘caramelised dimension, where deep brunette bases are enhanced with buttery, amber and toasted sienna ribbons for an illuminated, skin-enhancing glow.
‘This is not balayage as we know it,’ he adds. ‘2025’s take is about micro-fine blending and contour-enhancing placement to create a hyper-personalized, soft-focus colour that mimics natural sun exposure. A reverse-toning technique (cooler roots that gradually melt into warm mids and ends) ensures colour longevity while keeping the tone fresh.’

3. Herringbone Highlights
Elsewhere, salon experts predict a shift towards embracing grey and white hairs in a way that looks soft and natural. ‘Gone are the days of women frantically trying to cover up and hiding grey hairs,’ agrees Charlie Illi, a top stylist and advanced technician at Brooks & Brooks. ‘Sarah Jessica Parker has set a beautiful example for embracing natural hair by adding soft herringbone highlights. This technique adds pieces of colour through the natural hair with contrasting warm tones, giving the hair vibrancy and shine – but at the same time blending any greys and whites. I think we will be seeing a lot more of this trend in 2025.’

4. Mocha Mousse
And what would the new season be without 2025’s colour of the year, mocha mousse? ‘Intentionally warmer than your classic brunette hue, mocha mousse has ribbons of dark blonde blended throughout to create dimension and movement,’ explains Tina Mehmi, RUSH Artistic Team Member. ‘This soft brunette hue is the perfect transitional shade as we move into the warmer months, oozing luxury and sophistication.’
‘Its inspiration comes from natural tones like coffee beans, cocoa beans and warm wood tones,’ adds Charlie. ‘Think brown with additional beige hints, combined with some lighter hues through the hair to give it dimension.’

5. Chestnut Teddy Blonde
Thought you’d seen the last of teddy blonde? Think again. Dan Spiller, a colour expert and Joico EMEA Ambassador, predicts this will be a huge hair trend for spring 2025 – although this rendition has a slight twist. ‘A subtle blend of chestnut brown and soft blonde, there are no harsh contrasts here,’ he explains. ‘The warmth of chestnut gives the colour depth and is incredibly flattering, making it a great option for many different skin tones.
‘This trend is a natural evolution from the red tones that were so popular in autumn and winter, offering a softer, more neutral take on warm shades,’ he adds. ‘It’s the ideal middle ground for anyone looking to combine the brightness of blonde with the richness of brunette.’
