Luxe At-Home Exercise Equipment Is On The Rise – Here’s What To Add To Your Home Gym

The demand for at-home fitness equipment that took off during the pandemic was expected to fade once gyms reopened, but five years on the trend has only accelerated. The global home fitness equipment market reached roughly $13.5 billion in 2025 and is projected to approach $23 billion by 2034, according to Fortune Business Insights.

And designer houses are catching on, as the uber-wealthy set their sights on luxury gym equipment. From major fashion houses designing dumbells, to life-size horse robots offering a unique take on core exercises, designer kits are becoming a staple choice for the 0.01 percent. As Henry Barratt, founder of One: Personal Training in Mayfair, explains: people were previously looking for a few pieces of at-home gym equipment, to keep away from view. Now, people are looking to show off the luxury gym equipment they’re proud of.

Inside The Luxury Gym Equipment Trend

Luxury homes, hotels, spas and even yachts are turning to luxury gym equipment that blend seamlessly into the interior design of high-end spaces. With Covid bringing in a wave of at-home workout interest and preference for smaller, boutique gym sessions, elite fitness equipment has seen an initial spike in demand level out into a new fitness norm.

‘Luxury equipment is certainly becoming a lot more mainstream and sought after,’ says Barratt. ‘What these new luxury brands have to their advantage is it’s not just going to be used in the gym – it can be used in multiple ways which opens up their market significantly which is pretty cool because it’s becoming a design feature.’

An example of this new world of exercise can be seen in the dozens of new equipment pieces, with elite performance trackers and athlete-focused mechanisms already built in. Take the Enlightened Equitation Equisimulator used by horseback riders of all skill levels to maintain their athletic abilities and work on specific equestrian techniques. Starting around £4,000, the mechanical horse is a unique take on at-home fitness options created by Heather Moffett, pioneer of the UK’s first riding simulators.

As Moffett explains, ‘It’s great for home use for exercise because apart from anything else, riding a horse you use different muscles.’ She adds, that ‘they’re a damn good exercise machine’ and can be used by busy professionals who have never ridden or don’t have time to visit their riding centre multiple times a week. 

Function and Fashion

Many of the newest luxe gym equipment boast premium materials designed to be displayed in the home. However, fashion doesn’t always mean function when it comes to repetitive use. ‘As a personal trainer that’s done this for 18 years, and I’ve trained since I was late teens, you know very quickly whether a product is well made and when you pick it up and you use it for a rep or two,’ says Barratt. ‘If that’s your inclination of wanting to use really good equipment, then whether it’s got marble in it or not, it’s slightly irrelevant […but] If somebody wants to pay that because it matches their interior design in their house, it might make someone very happy.’
